I just bought my first boat and want a handheld GPS device that is easy and will help get me to fun destinations, restaurants and gas pumps.

I already have a depth finder, wont be fishing and have a compass, so i dont need those functions unless they come with the package.

Thanks

one post per subject is plenty!

19 posts and we still don't know your boat info and where you boat because you haven't posted it in you signature. all useful information for your quesiton.

Ok.

I will be boating in the Barnegat Lighthouse bay area. the boat is a 2006 200 Sea Ray sundeck. Thanks.

see, that wasn't so hard. but it would be nice if it was in your sig line. check out the Usercp link above to enter.

There are several people from that area on the board so they probably can make the best suggestions to meet your needs. I'm on inland rivers and lakes and wouldn't be much help. could make the suggestion but would likely be wrong for your needs.

Be patient grasshopper!

I will be surveying the boat on Saturday, so until I officially buy it, I dont want to say it is mine!!!

I was told 5 yrs ago the Garmin are the most user friendly?
I bought a Magellan color marine handheld. (backup Now)
The color is nice confirming land from water on the charts.
The backtrack function is great in the fog or at night.
Anchor alarm is good if you have a cabin to hang out in.

Theres more to just finding your local Mc D's
A marine handheld GPS should have all them functions.
