Howdy,

I'm interested in the Raymarine a65 (lower case "a" not the old upper case "A") has anyone had any expierience with it? Also wondering if anyone has a Garmin that's similar to the a65 and some opinions on which they think is better? this is my first time buying and using one of these so looking for ease of use is important. I'm only going to use if for navigation not hooking it up to the engine or anything else.

Thanks, Jason

I have used the garmin gpsmap 640. Pretty easy to set up.
Not familiar with the raymarine version.
Either one would work for your needs. Mainly its just you prefer.

I'm fixing to buy the Garmin Echomap 50s and a transducer. They have a $200.00 cash rebate going on right now.

Your best option would be to get to a local marine supplier who sells both of the units and "play" with the display models. I worked at a marine supply house in Long Island, NY and we had units hooked up and operating for just that purpose. Garmin and Raymarine units are both fairly easy to use, but each have their own personalities. What I may think it easy to use, may not be for you and vice-versa. Best way to know for sure it to try them both.

The owner of this site Jim, also owns BOE Marine. I bought my Garmin 545s a few year back from him. He has very competitive prices and great customer service + you'll know who you bought it from, not some Garage in the middle of nowhere that could "fly-by-night" on you.

I bought mine today from BOE.
