Good deal for this 05 340DA???

Scott was talking about boat prices in 07. Back in 07 I was able to buy a new 07 for what the used 05 prices were. A used 06 was more than a new 07. A used 02 - 320 was about 30k difference than a new 07. At the time it seemed like not much of a discount for a 5 year older boat. Today used is such tremendous value.

My goodness, my parents 02 - 290 Amberjack can be bought for 40k and it is hard to sell. The maintenance is all up to date and the bilge, cockpit and interior is spotless.

Hey guys, I wanted to thank you all for the advise....I may retract from this deal at PWM, I will wait another few days before I take the plunge with them since they haven't really communicated with me since the downpayment. I was incorporating what you all said and what the bank was saying, the price is tad high for the year. In addition a few more 320/330/340 has popped up this week, although most are brokerage, they were all willing to maybe trade in my boat.

Tomorrow, I am going to look at these 3 boats:
2006 320DA black hull - $113k [not many options and no camper] ?hours
2007 340DA blue hull - $130k [not many option and no camper] 247hours
2009 330DA blue hull - $140k [LOADED] ?hours

I am leaning towards the 330DA since the year is newer and resale in the future would be better. I was researching that boat and it has the dimensions as the 320DA and seems to have the deck of a 310DA. I know most you here in the section love the size of the 37' 340 and find it superior over the older 320DA/2009 330, but does anyone know how this boat may be compared to the 03-07 340DA?

I owned an '04 340 and loved it. Great boat. I'd definitely go for the bigger layout over worrying about future resale. Oh, and make sure the 340 has 8.1L engines not 6.2L.

I'm Biased, so I'll wait for others to chime in. Go ahead Scott...

That piece of information a few pages back about the actual sale prices of 340's is HUGE! That is reality my friend and the price you are paying is not just a tad high but more like 20K high. Just look at the actual sale prices of those 340's. If I were you I'd walk in armed with THAT list and watch the dealer squirm.

Ok. the 09 330DA is crap. It's a smaller boat than the previous generation of the 330, and even smaller than the 320. (Feels smaller anyway, the dimensions are about the same as the 320)

How's that?

And don't fool yourself about the resale value being higher in the 330. If anything, it will depreciate more than any of the other boats you listed.

Blunt, but to the point. That's how I roll........................tonight anyway.

I'm cool with that...every opinion counts! cheers

I did some research on the specs and it has the same length/beam as the 320

I think the 2010 models are when they changed the beam over 10'5" with the sideways berth

This dealer won't squirm. Their approach is they are not selling you a boat. They are selling you a boating lifestyle with them as an integral part every day of that boating lifestyle. If you don't need/want their boating lifestyle and just want a boat that you manage yourself, then definitely you will get one much cheaper on your own.

Ethan, I have had a 2008 330DA since new, now in our 6th season. 1 fitting on the starboard engine had a hairline crack, in 2012. That's the extent of issues, close to 300 hours, keep up with all maintenance, so for me this boat has been very reliable.

See if you can find an '08 or '09 350, for comparison sake. There are a few things it offers, that I'd like due to the larger beam, and LOA: roomier bilge, better cockpit layout, separate shower w/in head. If you can swing it, then you've really got a boat that you will be less likely to want to trade up from.

I agree with the others, all these boats should have an auto pilot, even if you have to add it, don't wait like I did.

Let me know if you'd like to discuss further. Also, there are several of us 2008-2009 330DA owners here, so pick our brains, and get more opinions, but the boat has beautiful lines, handles real nicely, EASY to dock, and if I had $1 for every compliment I get, I'd cut my fuel expense considerably, LOL!

This thread might be helpful, and remember, these are all good boats, some trade offs, for sure. But you're looking at it with an open mind, and eventually you'll have found the right boat, for "you", and that boat will be your pride and joy, along with being a memory maker.

VERY OLD BOATING ADAGE: "Buy the biggest boat you can afford."

That goes for BEAM even more so than LOA. I would not go smaller and newer. The depreciation curve flattens the older a boat gets. I say stick to your guns and find a 340 you can live with.

I have an 08 330, same as the 09, and I love the boat. My friend had an 05 320 and my 330 had so much more storage. The 8.1s are a dream in this boat, although they are thirsty. One thing to remember is the 09 gets you DTS. Now that I have it, I wouldn't want to go back to the dual sticks. Ask anything you want. We practically live on this boat every weekend and we are not dock rats. Its a very comfortable and reliable boat.

Thanks for the info, after everyone was raving about the autopilot, I was looking around the web to see how much they were and how long it would take to install. If you could provide me with some info, that would be helpful :)

HAHA everything in boating is thirsty, how much GPH do you average? I would assume with the lighter weight, these would perform better than a 340

I see the DTS throttle in the youtube ad they provided, but in the written ad, they said it comes standard with the Axium system as well. I haven't checked out the boat yet, but i'll see how true that is since i didn't see any in the pics the dealer provided me.

Interestingly, although axius was std, you lose that with most of the opt power pkgs most of these we're built with, ie the 8.1 horizons, with v-drives, like mine. Fyi, it's an 08, and does have DTS. GPH @ 3200 RPM is about 31.

i saw the 330, its a very nice boat with lots of option, hydraulic swim platform/thruster/teak cabin floors/etc. very nice, but i felt a lil crampped in the cabin though...price is decent though.
another dealer had a 06 320 white hull with 180hrs on the engine for 88k. i'm not in favor of white hulls, but he insisted i could paint it for about 7k.
then he showed me a 2009 350....WOW!!!, almost got in trouble with my wife, the boat incredible...previous owner hooked it up with everything possible...thrusters, 2 raymarine gps/radar c120/flir nightvision/teak everywhere, very awesome...priced at 190k. my wife almost kicked me.... :(

See? My 2007 340 would be a bargin at 160K!

Or MY 04 would be a steal @ $97,400 , And, that's with a FULL Tank of gas and a fresh FULL Detailing top to bottom in and out.
