Good Beaches Near Marathon?

I am trailering the boat down to Marathon over the 4th of July weekend. If the weather is good we plan to do some snorkeling out at Sombrero Key.

The kids favorite thing (after tubing) is to go hang out at a beach and play in the sand. I've never boated down in the keys, but I hear that there are not a lot of nice sandy beaches like were used to around Sarasota. Does anyone familiar with the area have any recommendations???

That looks like it's just a few miles from where were docked, do you know if they allow you to bring the boat right up to the beach?

I have only been there a couple of times and did not notice any boats in close. Maybe a local can chime in...
