Generator will not start.

If you read the manuel it says if it does not start after 3 tries. Close the sea cock and try. This way u dont push water into it

I just tried mine. Changed plugs and added fuel yo fuel water seperator to prime it. Cranked it and nothing. Took a water bottle with a little gas in iy and squirted in the carb and it started and ran for a sec. Think i have a fuel pump problem. Any thoughts

By-pass all of your sensors. If the generator keeps running you have found your problem. Now remove the sensor by-passes one at a time until the generator stops to narrow down which sensor is causing you grief. Replace faulty sensor.
Thanks Doctor, I will try your suggestion this weekend if it is not too hot (calling for 40C this weekend). The problem is intermittent so it could also be a loose wire on one of the sensors as Simpsonn8980 suggests.

Thanks everyone for the help.

If you have spark at the plugs, I would then remove the fuel line at the pump to see if the fuel solenoid is opening to allow fuel to flow from the tank to the pump. If that is good, remove the fuel line at the outlet side of the fuel pump and crank to see if it is pumping. If it is, then you may want to measure the output pressure of the fuel pump. If all is good there, you have eliminated the spark & fuel portion of the equation. If your flame arrester is clean, then you have eliminated combustion air. I would then be opening up the carburetor to see if the float needle valve is stuck and not allowing fuel to flow from the fuel bowl into the carburetor. You say that it runs until it burns whatever you poured into the carb, so your carb might just be overdue for a thorough cleaning. That should keep you busy for a while. Let us know how things turn out.
