Thank you all for your responses just to clear the record. I have absolutely no intention of running a genset on my swim platform. This will be installed to replace an a in existing genset of the same make model and year I’ve been voting for well over 45 years and I’m not a newbie thanks for your concern, & appreciate your help greatly. Thank you for bringing me into the group. !!First.....welcome to CSR!
When you wake up a 5 year old thread and the Original Poster has been gone for 5 years from CSR.....it is amusing in a silly way.
As to "incoming" ....we have had an inside joke running for almost 20 years about using portable generators on boats. I can't tell you how many people have thought this was a great idea and forget about how dangerous it can be. It seemed like every summer somebody or a family died from Carbon Monoxide poisoning by using a Honda generator.
In your regards to your generator query...... Quicksilver's are 30+ year old tech and certainly weren't very efficient back in the day. Any generator you would find today would be because they were pulled from a boat for parts.
I’m not sure if you’re still looking for the exhaust manifold for that generator but there’s a guy in New York that makes them out of Monel which is in the stainless steel family. Here’s his contact info.I was quoted verbally 8,000 for a new 9 KW gas generator installed at the Seattle Boat show.
Perhaps parting it out might get you some customers. I will give you 200 for the exhaust manifold if it is in good condition. Payment after you ship and I inspect.
Anyone else need parts for there old generator?
These guys may be able to help you out. They are also a site sponsor here and may offer a member discount. https://browardarmature.com/Hi all, I have been communicating with this poster. He did respond has anyone had any real world contact or know him??
in this day and age here sadly, it’s hard to trust anyone I’m feeling like this could possibly be a scam he’s asking for half upfront before he ships, any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!
This would be replacing an existing genny of same make & model that needs a new backend (stator & regulator rewind).
Or I came across this, and I will seem too good to be true and I’m pretty worried it actually is. thanks again. All!
Thank you
OK I haven’t heard any negative comments about him from anyone on here. I’m going to go ahead and pull the pin on this one. I’m going to pay him through PayPal. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thank you all.!Hi all, I have been communicating with this poster. He did respond has anyone had any real world contact or know him??
