I have a 2001 280 DA w/ twin 4.3 Alpha Drives the starboard engine is running hot. When I took it in the service dept. said the engine was fine but the gauge is bad. The temp gauge is heating up faster than port but when running it will go to 0 and then back to 170 degrees+. The overheat alarm went off once. The volts read 16v on the gauge but when tested it is 14v. It is a multi gauge. Is it the gauge or the sending unit. I don't want to spent $300 on a gauge if it is not the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
