I have a 1999 180 sea ray bow rider. I know its good on gas, but not that good. the gauge stays pegged at full.

I need to replace the sender, but my local dealer has it on backorder at $81. I can get generic ones for about $25. I know the tank is 9.5in deep, but i need to know what ohm range the stock gauge is. can anyone assist?

I would replace it with the"puck style" sending unit. I made the mistake of going with OEM and will most likely replace with the puck style.

Exactly! Do a search here or simply Google it and you should be able to find what you need.

If you're sure it's the sending unit, that's one thing, if not, this might help you and/or others ...you might consider a couple of other diagnostic techniques. The connections and gauges are very sensitive. Over the yrs I've found some simple fixes ; re-crimp terminal ends ; back off tension on gauge terminal posts and mounting clamp. You may have already done this , but remove sending unit and ck OHM s while moving float...good luck

i removed the cables and cleaned the terminals. i can see the gauge move when i add/remove the ground. I want to pull the sender and see what is up, but the boat is in storage, and not here at the house. Im trying to get everything together for a marathon weekend fix fest.

That's possible ..... When you pull the sending unit, be prepared to R/R your gasket.... Re: terminal end comment post #6, hold terminal end in one hand then try to move wire back and forth sideways. If wire moves, re-crimp...

TO check the dash gage, disconect the wires at the sender take a small aa12volt bat touch one wire to the pos end and the other end to neg if the ned. moves the gage is ok,Go to mollermarine they have a chart that is easy to under stand,is's going to be easy...Rip
