I'm installing a Garmin GSD 24 sounder black box along with the Airmar B 60 transducer as a part of the boat's overall systems upgrades. The GSD 24 will display on the Garmin GPSMAP 7512. The Airmar B 60 comes in 6 pin and 8 pin variants for the Garmin products. The GSD 24 interfaces directly with the 8 pin transducer but also comes with an adapter for the 6 pin transducer. The 6 pin transducer is a cheaper investment by over $50.
The question is, as the transducers are both compatible are there any differences in performance and or display?

Thanks for the help!

The ducers are identical, only the plug is different. No loss in performance. I am not sure what your time is worth but it will take you at least an extra hour to use the adpater vs buying the 8 pin ducer.

Thanks Jim
I got the 8 pin one - In researching the Airmar internal wiring diagrams (here is their cross reference guide and link to the wiring diagrams - http://www.airmartechnology.com/marine-product-search.asp?q=B60) they separate the temperature ground from the sounder ground and shield ground; their reason is better sounder performance and less interference. Why take chances with investments like these...

BTW - thanks for all the toys BOE sent me; can't wait to get to all of the electronics upgrades!
