Clinton tried to be a liberal but got his ass handed to him on the Healthcare issue and then the conservatives won the midyear election so he came to the middle. Kennedy was more fiscally conservative than many would think. He actually cut taxes. But that was before welfare was implemented.

i am british and i am an obama fan. seems to take a lot of knocks on this site. dont know why.

from a distance (europe), he reminds me of JFK: A man who truly wants to make a better world. I can understand thats not easy.

A number of people here are true conservatives….morally conservative and fiscally conservative. Are we perfect? NO! Most conservatives like me weren’t happy with President Bush (#43) when it came to the way he spent and they voiced their opinion to that effect. What we were happy with was the fact that he wasn’t concerned how others felt when he was protecting America. They gave President Obama the Nobel Peace Prize because they knew it would neuter him and that is exactly what has happened. His General has requested more troops and Obama won’t make the decision to send them!

I’m getting a little tired of working my butt off so the lazy a$$, dope smoking, jerry springer watching idiots can collect part of my paycheck! Now they want more so I can provide Healthcare to others as well.

I think the problem with a lot of people in Europe is that they don't study History very much. They are probably not taught much about WWI and WWII and who saved their butts twice loosing close to a Million people doing it. They forgot that Ronald Regan caused the Berlin wall to come down (which Obama doesn’t think is important enough to go join the celebration). They love Obama because they don't understand the American Sprit where when it comes down to protecting our freedom Political Parties don't exist just Americans just like on 9/12/2001. They would rather denounce America than the Terrorist that blow up bombs in tier countries. They run and hide and vote for people that the Terrorist want them to and then get blown up any way. America kicks their ass, well we use to but it won't happen with Obama he is an appeaser.:smt024

i am sorry that you interpreted what i have said to indicate that i am giving you advice. i would never presume to do that because i am neither a US citizen nor resident, and i am certainly not up to date with the day to day policy proposals and legislation being handed down by your new government. i can only view events as an outsider, and therefore from a global perspective.

i understand that in the modern era, a particular policy could be put forward by a democratic or a republican president (i acknowledge Bill Clintons suggestion for the "third way") and that a voter may or may not like that policy based on his beliefs, rather than any particular association to a political party.

you may be interested to know that i'm both a realist and an idealist politically. for example, i strongly support measures to stop the spread of (mostly) muslim based terrorism and i am opposed to economic migration. i believe in being very tough on criminals where a crime against the person or personal property is involved. i would like a world where every politician is motivated by a desire to improve peoples lives. i like it when the big guy stands up for the weak guy when the bad guys are pushing him around (a metaphor that can be employed equally to my neighbours as it can to the global community of nations). i thank and respect the USA for being a good guy, God forbid if we lived in a world where the predominant nation was actually bad!

the membership of CSR is overwhelmingly US American and that leads to all political comment necessarily to be of the domestic USA variety. that leaves me, as an opinionated person eager to participate in political debate, with two choices: either engage with other CSR members as a "member of the global community" or to just stay out of all such debates. i would hope that the views of a "foreigner" would be of interest to you, whether you agree with them or not.

Then our President makes a World tour apologizing because the USA is so great.

Remember Jesus Christ laid his life down for you and so will An American Solder.

If you get FOX news over there watch it because you will only get half the story from CNN and MSNBC

That is the reason the obams are after fox. In the last month fox has broken stories about accorn and one of obamas czars which has been damaging to the white house. The fact that fox is not under the obama control is causing them grief. In the last month the white house has gone after 1. Insurance co. 2 fox news 3 US chamber of commerce all because the are not in agreement with the socialized medicine proposal they are pushing. To find what Obama really stands for ,look up the backgrounds of the people he has appointed czars and cabinet positions. I think you will change your mind about supporting this man after you look at his appointees.

As I listen to our President and his Cabinet speak, I experience a sense of fear that I've never had before.
Usually it's to the effect of "You're standing in the way of the REFORMS this country so desperately needs" to any individual or group that dares to question his agenda.
