Anybody been there? What's up there?

I have be to north and south Manitou islands. Exsperance I'll never forget. I will be going back with the wife and kids.
I made it to Leland and 9:30 pm with the truck and the 230 Power Play. Went to the south island. Chould not get the boat stable, so went back to Leland and anchord out there for the night. Next day went to both island and around them. Put some Mile's on the boat that day.
I just don't know how to go back. We woke up that next morning and the Ramp parking was full. I don't need to drive all the way up there and find out a can't park the truck and trailer. Last time I got there late and did alot of night driving with 2 to 3 footer out of the north east.

I recall a Russian Mig figher crashing off of Fox Island maybe 10+ years ago during an air show. It was never found.

North Fox: the story I heard was the developer of Bay Harbor "Johnson?" bout north fox for fill dirt for a project on beaver. Apparently he now has a place on north fox and a runway.

Leeland boat launch: The parking at the boat launch is not really for overnight. The school parking lot is where overnight parking is allowed. Two block away, a short walk.

Have you been to the new lauch with your 268, I remember the ramp being a bit steep. Last time I was there (before the ravamp) watch a Jeep Wranger get pulled down the ramp by there boat.

I put my 230 in before the "revamp". I did go check out the new ramp last year and it looks just as steep and short. The transition from parkin lot to ramp has quite a hump with lots of skid marks from trailer hitches draging. If your truck sits up like a 3/4 ton you most likely wont scrape.

I called my buddy up that works for Island Airways. The Company that flys out to Beaver Island on a daily bases. He said that the south Island is own my a guy that has a paved air strip. He just dopped a pallet of bird seed off there two days ago. There's a couple of houses he said. The north side and south light house he don't own. The guy must not be the the friendlest person. My buddy said he heard that a plane had to take an emergency landing there. He took the plane, in a short story. Sounds like I wouldn't achor the boat out just anywere and walk around. Make sure you on the stateland before you do.

I don't believe the renovation of the harbor included the trailer site other than a new floating dock. We see lots of small trailer boats put in and retreived there every year and it looks about the same as before except for nicer docks.
