I happened to be staying at the same marina as Mr. Four Suns this past weekend and had occasion to observe some of the repairs to his vessel. Now, I always thought the guy did a bang up job on his repairs, but, I saw him out in the rain with a roll of rescue tape.

You decide:

So, he was so happy with himself, that he went over to Stan's boat and started taking things apart there.

Technical wizardry at it's finest.

no pics of him falling off the hardtop?

The nylon mounts on that mast seem to be degrading from UV or something. That and that tugboat wake I hit Friday broke a few things.

Can't fix it with Rescue Tape, you can't fix it.

I emailed wingtard those pics and he said you did it wrong.

That was awfully nice of them to Pop rivet them onto the mount for you!

Looks like a "cool mod" to me

That's the real reason Rick was ready with his camera.

And on Stan's boat, Gary was trying to intercept the NASA signal from the Mars Curiosity Rover - something about "trust me, I used to work for them".

We didn't get a picture from Mars.

I didn't mind the camera running but the "betting pool" and Rick collecting cash and a group of people cheering for a fall was little much. I was insulted by the over-under odds.

For the record, I only sliced my thumb open one time this past weekend. Rescue tape doesn't work for that... One needs Super Glue.

It's French... what do you expect...

That's a custom mount and it's all welded aluminum. There are nylon grommets and washers all over that thing so none of the stainless mounting hardware and bolts touch the powder coated aluminum. They put on those nylon antenna mounts with aluminum rivets. I actually redid one of them because it wasn't straight (did I mention it's French?). I'm thinking a "cool mod" would be to print a plastic sleeve for over the aluminum and then put a custom stainless tube over that (about an inch high) and have the male threaded piece welded to the top of that. I could then powder coat it white and put a couple sleeved thru bolts to hold it on... that won't break and it'll look the same... sans rivets...

Rick has a newer SeaView mast and they have a new modular system that is a much better design.... He also has this really cool 4G antenna I am very jealous of....

I do like the dangling rescue tape though... And I think I may go get one of those Debbie Boone Lifetime Lifts for my face...

When we were in NY, while walking to breakfast with Rusty, he told my wife that our boat "was at end of life." Now everytime something breaks, she says "Rusty said...."

Can't complain too much. The boat has been running from NC to CT this year without any major issues.

The story that Rusty told us was that he was talking about YOU.

I thought yours was also SeaView just a complete (one piece) unit. I'm looking on getting the same things as Rick has and I asked SeaView about having two grommets on each spreader (like you have now). They said that for the older type (non-modular) mounts they have only one grommet on each spreader setup.

Rick, what material your grommets are made of?
