I am getting ready to fog my fuel injected motor for winter storage, and the manual say to use a remote gas tank to mix gas, 2 cylce oil, and stabilizer together. It states to disconnect and plug the fule inlet fitting for fuel tank and then connect to the fuel tank.

Has anyone done this before? What kind of fittings and tubing do I need to connect it?

I've researched this issue and know of 1/2 dozen different ways to fog the engines for winterization. My preferred method is to put a squirt of 2-cycle oil via diffused spray bottle into each cylinder and turn the crank (not start the engine though). I do this for my small motors (powerwasher, snow blower, etc. but it would take too long for the boat. For the boat, I mix 2-cycle oil and existing fuel in the OLD water-Fuel filter after engine is at operating temp. Then, let that mixture run through while running the pink through muffs and out the back. It gets a lighter coat on the cylinder walls but it's better than nothing and very easy to do. Replace the water sep filter and done. This is exactly what our dealer does, btw.

^^Same as us.

Its just SO much easier to pull a filter off, put fog mix in and put a filter back on.

We just chop the throttle a bit to get it moving though the lines and rail.

Plus your filter is a maintainance item so its needs to be replaced anyways so you kill 2 birds with one stone.

It is very easy to do. Just follow the instructions. One word of advice. When you remove the brass fittings going to the fuel filter. Take them to a hardware store and match them up, they are alot cheaper then purchasing them from a marina or boaters store. Also buy your remote tank and lines from Walmart you will save 50%.

I have a follow up question on fogging an MPI:

When I disconnect the fuel line to the water separating filter do I have to relieve the pressure in the line first ? Do I have to turn off a fuel pump ? Anything else I need to know ?

Also, I never changed my water separating filters- Do I simply unscrew the old filter and replace it the same way I do with an Oil FIlter ?

I have a 2002 Searay Sundancer

Thanks

Check the answer I gave you in this other thread where you already asked the question...:smt001

You have spin-on filters - you do not need to disconnect the fuel line.
