flushing sterndrive

....for the bronze valves, I'm trying to find one with a single lever to open and close both outlets. Also I'd like to come up with a way to add a reservoir to dispense the Salt-Away formula.

I looked for the same but with no luck, unless I went with plastic, but decided against it. Keep in mind I used 1 1/4 valve for the raw water but only 3/4" for the fresh water so a common valve wouldn't be available The other nice thing about this valve is that I can change my water pump in the boat without worrying about the hose from the outdrive pouring water into the bilge. I can just shut off the raw water!
(In case you did not know, the water pump is lower than the water line, so when you pull the water pump hose you need to raise the hose up to stop water from entering the boat. don't drop it :smt018 )

If I were to do it over, I might install a separate water feed for the flushing system. I would install this in the locker next to the original to hide it. You could then add the salt-away container in-line to the flushing valve and not have it get into the regular fresh water system. I like my set up because I only hook up one hose and done  .

New member or is it "Fresh Meat"?
Just bought a 290AJ and was looking to do something simular.
I was reading the Mercruiser manual last night (Haven't taken delivery of the boat so that's all I got.).
The winterization procedure can also be done esaily with this setup, if you keep the flushing setup seperated from the water system. Just stick the input hose into a bucket of antifreeze.

Is there a gadget that goes on the A/C and Generator strainer that will flush them or do I put in a simular T for that too?
Seems like I could just attach a hose fitting to a spare strainer cap.
Would that work?

BTW, anyone have a way to make a reasonably priced prop wrench for the inner BIII prop nut?
Thanks, I'm glad I found this site!

Welcome William.

I don't have a/c so I am not sure of that setup. I decided to winterize thru the outdrive (using miffs) to make sure all the water in the bravo 3 drive and hoses leading up to my valves were protected.

I am in the process of making a cheap socket so if I works I will post my results.

Good luck with your new toy!.

The boat i'm getting (looks like i'm getting) has the perko flushing system that was dealer installed. been in use for 3 years with no problems. I'll try and remember to post my experience with it if it becomes mine :smt038
