Finally launched the 24 footer out of Northpoint today (Lake Michigan). Was a bit rough to get to this point (leaky gas tank, carb issues).
Nice enough day today, but had to stay on the move.... too many black flies! They were awful!
Any tips or ideas how to keep them at bay?

Thanks!

No,but if you find one let us all know.

I remember working in a logging camp 300 mi north of Montreal when I was 16-17, seaplane access only. We all taped our jeans to our boots, our gloves to our parkas and lathered our face with some nasty stuff. On the the way there, I was asked something about black flies, in French of course ,not understanding I shrugged my shoulders.... Then came that look  I wouldn't wish that on anyone !!

While fishing on Lake Michigan we use a farm spray called CV-80D. I spray it on the rugs and around the inside of the back of the boat. It works pretty well at killing the flies that are there and repelling others. We experienced the flies this weekend as well, they were just a nuisance, they weren't biting. My vacuum must be full of dead flies after cleaning up all of the dead ones.
