Hi all,
Just joined and first post. Just got a 1987 267-da and ready to cruse the Great South Bay here on the island. Homeport is Patchogue N.Y. So if anyone has good suggestion were to go and stay over night that would be great.

See ya on bay.

Lived on LI my teen years and loved boating to Fire Island most weekends and the summer. Ocean Beach, Kismet, Atlantique, Saltaire, Robins Rest, Point of Woods (awesome), Sunken Forrest (more awesome), Sailors haven, Cherry Grove, the Pines, Watch Hill... Need I go on????

Enjoy... I'll be coming out this summer the month of July and plan to spend many days on Fire Island

All the places previously posted are really great, but if you are looking for a little longer range than that, try down the state channel west, past Cedar Beach to the next cove, Hemmlock Cove. Nice day visit to stay on the hook, or even better overnight at anchor. Further west to the next cove is Garbage Cove. A little smaller but still really nice. We were just in Hemmlock Cove last night. Really beautiful evening. Most of the day visiters leave after 4:30-5:eek:o and it gets quiet and peaceful. Usually well protected in a SW wind.

Hi,
My homeport is Pt Judith, RI. I own/operate at 2004 420 DA. From what I gather there are powerboat races in Patchotogue (sp?) this Aug 22. I am interested in attending these probably arriving Friday and departing sometime Sunday. Wondering if you have any suggestions on where to stay, Marina, for a "front row seat"? My plan is to come around Montauk and travel on the south side of LI. About how far down is Patochotogue?

For a quick boat run - directly across the bay you will find Watch Hill, Davis Park and Barrett Beach. You can dock or drop anchor and walk in.

Follow the Fire Island shore line west for lots more like Cherry Grove and Antique - bring your favorite umbrella drink

The beaches along the State Channel that Divine Comedy II is speaking of are also a places for fun to be had.

Enjoy!!!

Has anyone gone up the mattituck inlet? Thinking of going across from Westbrook CT this summer.
