Two questions......
First regarding oil and fuel filters. Put a modest 50 hours on the boat this season. Would you recommend changing the oil filters along with the oil? And would you change the fuel filters or wait until startup in the spring?

As for wax, the question is in regards to wax on the non-skid. There are a number of times where Soft Scub is needed on the non skid to remove black marks/bird stains/etc. do you wax then the non skid areas to protect the gel coat? If not, what do you use?

Oil and filter - yes, change it.
Fuel filter - probably ok to go another year.

I have used traditional wax and woody wax on non-skid. Mine was the diamond pattern non-skid. It did not get slick from either wax, and the traditional wax helped keep it clean better than the woody wax.

I had a different experience with that diamond non skid, and almost broke my damn neck after a high polish and wax. It was dangerous for 2 weeks. I switched to Woody wax, good stuff.

Absolutely change the oil and all the filters now, rather than wait for spring. I'm sure more technical reasons exist (moisture, acids, etc.).....but if only to find any anomalies now, then after a long winters nap will do for me. You may look into oil samples to monitor trends over time too.

Thanks for the responses. Good tip on the Woody wax. I'll pick some up this weekend.
Thanks for the feedback on filters as well. Just wanted to check as there weren't a lot of hours. All were changed in October of last year...

Totally agree with PMC on the wax thing. Use a non-skid wax for sure and stay out of the hospital.

The amount of contaminants (mostly "soot" or carbon) in diesel oil from only a few hours of running above idle is enough to have to change your oil, if your going to be laid up for any amount of time. The man reason is they eat away at the metal in the bearings and over time severely shorten your engines life.

With regard to the fuel filters, don't just change the filter element without making sure all allege is out of the fuel bowl as well.

Star-bright Non-skid with a hand held brush is what I use for my deck, works great for me.

I always change my fuel filter in the spring, after running my engines for 20-30 minutes... I would change your oil when you winterize...
