I have some TaylorMade black fenders that are probably as old as the boat. That are leaving black streaks down the side of the boat and also have some dry rot in the center. I am looking to buy some new 12 by 36 black fenders. How long will a last outside on the front of the boat before they start doing the same thing? I don't think they will slide in the holders with covers on them.

Will they last about 10 years without leaving streaks down the side of my boat when in use?

I always store fenders in cockpit lockers because they are ugly in my opinion. My black fenders are 15 years old and still look new.

I personally like the Polyform after researching the question myself recently. I chose covers too, but they are not necessary. I noticed that vessels managed by pros use them. Particularly the round ball type so I did 4 Polyform HTM-3 and 2 A 21 inch round ball style.

As for the dirty, clean them with magic eraser and regularly coat them with 303.

I am often on a 3100 Open and don't see where the fender storage would be? Granted there is a considerable amount of fishing gear...

Ours is a 32 Open. Has a large locker under the L seat on the windshield end of the base. The entire base pedestal is for storage with a large door facing the helm seat. We never came close to using all the storage space on that boat. The forward facing seat base lifts up to an ice chest that lifts out with more storage beneath the ice chest. Used the ice chest to store 6 30 foot lines for traveling.helm seat base has more space than we used as well.

Store them out of the sun and use washable covers on them and they may outlast you.
