I have a 290 Sundancer and I am looking for suggestions on where to mount the fender rack holders other than the bow.

Thanks

I have a pair of racks mounted on the bow rail, and honestly, I think the fenders get in my way as far as sight goes so I just stow them in the aft locker. Just my opinion...

I have a 250 Sundancer and I had the fender holders on the bow until recently. They were in my line of sight and going up to the bow to use them wasn't very convenient. I am in the process of adding a swim platform and then i am going to move the holders to the back of the aft seat above the existing swim platform area. I believe that they are going to work much better there.

It really depends on how you boat...if you "need" to carry lots of junk, and the transom locker space is precious, the racks mounted to the bowrail is probably the best option. Some people rarely use fenders, or only 2 of them.

Others use them every time out and need 4-6, including 1-2 against the swim platform. I just keep 4 in my transom locker.

I had some on my 330. I took them off because they blocked too much of my view forward. It's a safety issue IMHO. I didn't want to run over someone because I wanted the whole world to know I had fenders.

Mine don't get in the way at all ;-)

The holders are mounted on the bow but as with other posters, I had trouble with forward visibility. I carry three fenders (two for fuel dock and a spare) and they are all in the transom locker. These holders were installed by the PO but I suspect they are only really suitable for flybridge vessels.

@woody...
Nah, heading back from a raftup. Wife didn't take the fender that was aft up to the bow to stow it. The one more towards the bow was stowed as we idled out of the anchorage.

Very observant!

I looked for a while for a storage device to put two fenders on the bow. I abandoned the search and instead tie the fenders horizontally between two stanchions on the bow. One fender on the left and one on the right. I looked and could not find a picture. It is easy to tie them up and lower into place. They look fine in this location. For me they do not cause any problems with sight lines.

I do the same thing, very simple. However at the NE boat show there was a company, CMI I think, that does fabrication on the front rails to build fender holders right into your existing rails. They cut and weld in holders made of the same tubing and make a custom piece of wood to cover when docked to be used as a seat. Cool idea with a clean look however it seemed very expensive from what I remember. I tried but can't find a website.
