Still pretty new when it comes to the cursing style of boating but would like to hear what other love to do while at their boats. Hoping to get some new ideas for this season. we usually do the hook then maybe lunch at a restaurant and of cores a little boozing at the dock! whats your fave routine /activity?

I float with a first mate and three kids. We generally head out to a cove, throw the anchor, inflate some toys and spend 3-4 hours swimming and generally being happy to be together as a family. Following a day in the sun we typically cruise back to the slip, make some food, put the kids to bed and then hangout with some adult slip-neighbors until whatever time we like.

Last year was our first year with a cruiser and it was better than we could have imagined. I can't think of many better things to do as a younger family. This year we'll probably cruise a little further and I plan to spend a few nights on the hook with the full crew. Otherwise, best investment (or waste of money?) ever.

My enjoyment with a boat is being able to detach from the world and only surround myself with humans/dogs I like. Makes me sound grumpy, but that's my definition of luxury -- the access to privacy and doing what I want.

To that end, I do a lot of anchoring (in calm areas and at beaches), grilling with friends, and long cruises where shore isn't in sight.

We're empty nesters, so we anchor out as remote as we can get and......... Well, you know.

All of the above....sometimes it is anchoring with the kids and floating off the back or pulling the tube behind the boat. Other times it is just me and the Admiral hanging at anchor with tunes and adult beverages and a little "private time". Other times it is cruising to the city levy to tie up and watch concerts at the amphitheater and dinner downtown. All is good on the boat!

Mostly the same as above. Hook, some water sports, and enjoy a meal usually on the grill but sometimes elsewhere.

One thing we really enjoy but a lot of folks won't be bothered with it, is fireworks on the fourth. The city does it on the fourth proper and then a yacht club does it another day so 2 nights worth. As long as you can spend the night or avoid the mob going back to the dock, it's great. No way in hell if I had to get out on a trailer though.

We went from a lake: anchoring out all day with floats and rope swings and kids diving off the boat. We would raft up with friends and enjoy the company. Grilled on the Magma and usually returned to the slip around 10-11at night. Now we are on the ICW so we go to the beach, fish, swim, and so slow cocktail cruises to absolutely wonderful barrier islands. Tie up for the night and enjoy the harbor towns local bands and small restaurants. All costly, but I enjoy my family time so much and I can offer them a world they my never get to experience later in life. Love it.
