just curious your thoughts on the rain stopping ability of these tarps (canvas material).

today/last night it rained it's ass off here, not to mention a rainy past few days.

my boat is sitting on the trailer at the marina, setting with the bow cocked up slightly, and with the plug in.

after i heard it pouring this morning, it entered my mind that all that rain, while i have antiponding poles, still pools and could potentially seep in.

with the plug in, the water could potentially have my engine soaking.

think there is any reason i should be concerned about this, or is that tarp pretty water tight?

Mine are 10 years old and will hold most water out. I have used them both years I have had the boat and some water gets in when it pools on the corners of the bow near the wind sheild even with the poles. The material has stretched a bit. I have it on my list of things to do when I pull it out of storage to use 303 protectant to water proof them. I always leave the plug out when on the trailer. Over the last 2 summers I have not had much water get through the tops even with heavy rains.

I used DCS 19 to re-waterproof mine. I tired it over 303. I had a pool of water one rain storm and it did not leak through. However I did flip up a bucket and add some other stuff to raise the cover since.

You can waterproof the covers, but at some point they all leak.

Always remove the plug from a boat on a trailer. Rain the boat full and you get structural damage that isn't covered by a your warranty. You also have a starter that gets submerged, trim motors (tabs and outdrives)that get submerged, etc. Once a motor gets wet, it is going to fail...the only question is when. Once the relays on the trim system get wet, they are going to fail...the only question is when.
