Jack, Its about 70nm or so. JC
Well I am going to try our new toy this trip. You guys can track our progress via "Spot" starting Thursday morning when we head around to Key Largo via this link.
I hope it works, I only tried it once at my house.
Edit: you won't get a "feed" until we turn it on Thursday.
It has been pouring rain here in Cape Coral while we have been provisioning the boat. But....The weather tomorrow improves for our first leg to Key Largo; Less than 2 feet. Friday still looks good for the crossing East by Southeast 2 to 3 feet.
Rumor has it that Marcia (Jack's wife) has been cooking for a week in preparation. We just dumped the food in the fridge from Sams Club and hope to pull together a meal or so on the way. I hope we are not too embarrassed. I was hoping on catching a few fish or lobster along the way to supplement the supplies.
Pictures to be posted soon.
Get her loaded and have safe travels. We will see you Saturday.
1st stop Key Largo no problems. Check out the spot track.
Jack I will see you Saturday.
I just noticed the link above is cutting some of it off after I post.
The link on our website seems to work.
That spot tracking is pretty cool stuff.
Buddy a hop, skip and a jump and you'll be in Bimini.
Alright, What about some pics of Marina Del Mar. John has set some pretty high standards.
Need a Key Largo Fix bad. GLW, We will be there next week getting ready for our crossing.
Got a bunch of little things to get done then Bahamas here we come. JC
That spot thing is very cool.
Just an fyi...we arrived in Bimini and checked in here. They've now raised their clearance fee. Effective today, the fee is no longer $300 including 4 people on the boat. Now, it is $300 plus $20/person. For the 3 of us, it was $300 + $20x3 for a total of $360. You can still go back in 90 days and not have to pay the $300, but you will again have to pay $20 for each person on the boat. Also, there are now signs posted everywhere for $500 fines for creating a wake in the channel. They said they are now planning to aggressively enforce the no wake. It's about time!
I wonder how much money they lost over the last few years because of this "Fee"?
Last year we could not get our usual 5 other boats to go because of this. Rant over. JC
Is that just a Bimini thing because we just went to the Abacos clearing customs at West End and there was no mention of that at all, just the normal $150 for under 35' and $300 for over 35'.
Sorry about that spot link. I wonder if there is a limited number of characters for a link on this site.
Here are a couple of pics from today at Marina Del Mar.
Next stop Bimini.
Mike ready for some Jager shots.
They keep raising the fees it's gonna affect them. I already know quite a few people that have canceled trips because of the fees. If they lowered the fees they would get more Boats which means more money for the economy. Jeez.
Glad to hear about the enforcement of the no wake. Last time we were there it was ridiculous. Boats coming thru there at almost cruise speed.
Good looking group you got there Ken.
That is just plain economics. They must have failed that in college.
What Mike said makes no sense. They retroactively did this to the date we got our cruising permits in May.
They are learning from the US Government!
Jack, I am really looking forward to seeing you guys in Atlantis.
I assume you are still leaving Saturday morning??
Second leg down. We have met the first of our group, our good friends Mike & Anya at the Big Game Club.
It was a nice crossing today. We actually pulled in to Blue Water for fuel at 11:00 or so.
The remodeling at Big Game is coming along.
Ken, Watched you on spot between patients. Very jealous! What was "fee"? Pics would be great. JC
That spot thing is GREAT. i can see the slip you're in. I need to get one.
You guys made great time. Some pics of Atlantis would be nice!!! JC
