"Ever" been burned on eBay purchase? (Sorry for the typo)

A month ago I purchase a paid of Taylor Made fender holders for my Sea Ray. I paid right away as usual. Needless to say...I still haven't received a month later. The seller gave me a story about "being in the hospital". Ok, stuff happens. Well a week later, still no item or shipping info. Then he gives me another story about "death in the family". Ok...this guy is having a really bad month. Well, I call BS on the next story. "I had someone ship the items for me and it was sent to the wrong address by mistake and returned...I'll get it out right away."

Another week later, no item or shipping information. I've filed a complaint with eBay and it's been three days and no response from the seller or the resolution center. I've sent the seller a note stating I'm prepared to file with my local District Attorney for "theft over $100".

This is my first and only bad experience on eBay to date. I know it's not a lot of money but this chaps my @$$. Am I crazy now feeling overwhelmingly vindictive towards this dead beat?

Don't give him a feedback just yet !!.

I was burned once. I filed a complaint with PayPal, they gave me back my money, the guy posted a negative comment on my feedback but the way he worded it made him look like a real a$$hole.

"Wayne's World", didn't think about PayPal. I just filed the complaint with them. I'm giving the seller 24 hours and then will escalate to a claim so they can process a refund. Lesson to all..."Always pay using PayPal".

People on there can read between the lines about a a$$hole seller being mad.

I've had a couple of issues with e-bay but I still use them. The first problem was a laptop battery that was supposed to be 9 cell but was only a 6 cell. The guys communication was poor and I filed with paypal. He offered to discount the battery he alrady sent which was fine with me. If he answered e-mails I never would have complained. I also got cologne with a bad sprayer and that transaction took a while to resolve but I got a new one. Also bought an Ipod Nano. The dude had no prior sales or feedback so I was wary. It took him a while to get the product out to me but, he was the fastest responder to my e-mails which was good. When the Nano finally arrived, my Cleveland buddy was nice enough to leave it loaded with a bunch of Rap music for my listening displeasure! :grin:

Just so you all know for the future. EBay has started a new policy which protects buyers. You can leave whatever feedback you wish and a seller can NOT retaliate. They did this for just your reason. Buyers which have just cause to complain and warn other buyers, weren't because they didn't want negative in return. So leave a feedback message warning others of this guy. He cant leave negative for you.
Its a shame. It only takes one one P.O.S person... Glad to hear it all worked out for you and PAYPAL stood by you. I have found PAYPAL is a great organization to work with.
p.s. A few days ago someone had a fender holder on the classified here, haven't checked to see if it was still there.

I collect guitars and have a lot of high end purchases made through eBay - no problems. I also made a few really good boat purchases over the winter from eBay - no problems. One purchase that went astray was some Tiffany jewelry meant as a gift for the Admiral. Stuff turned out to be fake. Contacted the seller - she professed ignorance - I gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked for a refund - which was received.

I have had similar good luck on ebay. I don't buy that many things but I've been buying and selling there for over 10 years now. I have read enough of the ebay forums to know that I've been somewhat lucky though. I am also glad you got your refund.

I once bought a camera lens on ebay. It came with the promise of a full refund within 14 days for any reason. It took about 10 days for shipping. The same day I got the lens, I realized it was junk and sent it back for my refund. I never got my refund because it was after the 14 days...WTF? I complained to ebay and pay pal. They both said that per the sellers instructions, I had to have the lens back in the sellers hands within 14 days of purchase. Now I know why it took him 10 days to ship. I asked for my lens back but the seller said it would be another $30 for shipping to send it back to me. I was already out $100 for this POS lens, I was not about to give him another $30. He got to keep the lens and my $100.

I'm glad that you were able to get this resolved. I ended up getting burned by one guy pulling the same thing that you went through. Guy was sick, then out of town, then a family emergency. 35 days later, he just flat out tells me he's not going to send my item ($95.). I go to PayPal and Ebay, and they both tell me I'm out of luck because it's been over 30 days, and they don't get involved if it's been over 30 days. I'm glad that they have apparently changed their policy.

got burned twice.. once I ordered a used set of boat dishes and they were OK but not up to the quality I had been made to bleieve they were.. I purchased a replacement top for my gas grill and it was junk. I am always cauatious of E-Bay now.

I am in the middle of a dispute at the moment over freight charges. I bought a John Deer Gator in an auction. I contacted Freight Quote .com for freight quotes to ship the gator to Texas. I got three or four quotes before bidding and used the quotes as a limiting factor in my bid. At some point duringn the shipping or shortly there after the freight co. changed the classification of the item and with out notifying me added over $300.00 to my freight bill. I found out about the extra charges the next month when I got an E-mail from the shipper of the extra charges. I contested them but they billed my Amex card the next month any way. I have contested the charges with Amex but it looks like I have lost that one as well. I have done quite a bit of business on E-Bay but this deal will change my buying habits.....

Amazing. Guess what showed up today? I got the shipment after eBay had refunded the transaction. The refund shows from eBay. I'm going to wait and see if the seller sends me another bill. 1 month and 7 days to receive the shipment...
