On my Sea Ray 380 with twin 8.1 when running at 3000 RPM the port engine stays between 130 and 140 deg while the stb engine is stable at 160.
Is 140 deg OK or is it too low?
Thanks

my port runs cooler too,i think it is because it also heats the water heater.Only about 3-5 degrees cooler though.

I had a single grain of sand stuck in my t-stat once keeping it slightly open. Temp never got over 130 when that happened. Also, is it possible there is a 140 degree t-stat in the port engine instead of a 160?

Both of mine run @ 150 according to the gauges. It is possible that the gauges are inaccurate. Maybe use one of those lazer heat guns to see if one engine is actually hotter than the other.

Mine both run at about 160. I would switch the gauges, and see if it's the gauge, else I'd say it's your thermostat.

I wouldn't removed, switch and reinstall the gauges, just used a couple pieces of wire to span the distance to the other gauge.

I had one running hotter than the other, switched gauges & same engine ran hot. Turned out to be the temperature sending unit. May want to check that first

get an infrared temp gun from Harbor Freight.. $30...

Are these fresh or raw water cooled? 140-145 is about right for RWC. 160-170 for FWC. Either way check it with an infrared gun and make repairs as needed.

Mine is rwc.
