Engine hatch needs help to open

I purchased this one for various reasons, mostly price and being able to return it if it doesn't fit/work. I paid $700 for it, including shipping, with a 30 day free return. Price has gone up to $800.

I appreciate all of the input/suggestions here. The only folks who showed interest were the ones Frank referred me to. I plan to install it this weekend.

Nice work! - i did the same. I noticed at 1:20 in your vid, you seemed to put your hand on it to brace yourself coming out of the engine bay.....id be careful doing that incase you bend it!

The engine hatch on my boat needs a little help to get going, once it gets going it does open but slowly. I have to have someone lifting up on it to get it going, or use a pry bar of some kind if I'm by myself. Do I need a new actuator?

Mine are the gas pressurized lifts like on a car. Is there a service port to add hydraulic fluid? Sounds like the fluid has leaked out/down and you’ve got air in the system. My .02

Mine has a zerk fitting. It is in a stupid place though, between the motor and the ram when the hatch is open. PITA to get a grease gun on.

Thank you for posting. I've asked my marina to source a replacement and they haven't been able to find one.

The 380 Part Manual says the part # is 1100213 ACTUATOR, ELEC HATCH LIFT 12"12V CE. The description leads me to believe it's the model is 12". The Zoro description say 18 In. Any insight into this difference?

No insight, the 18-inch one does open the hatch more, which I like.

The pin where mine connects to the hatch was almost out the last time I was on the boat. I'm glad I noticed it otherwise the thing would have fallen on me. Or it would not have opened if the pin had popped out.

Što se tiče podiznog poklopca motora, potrebno je češće mazati cilindar, ja to radim teflonskom mašću u spreju, a mehanizam za podizanje inače podmazujem mazalicom i nema problema.

As for the lifting engine cover, it is necessary to lubricate the cylinder more often, I do it with Teflon grease in a spray, and I normally lubricate the lifting mechanism with a grease gun and there are no problems.
