My bilge began flooding and I realized the engine cooling system was leaking bad. The bilge pump could keep up just enough to pump out what was leaking in. I can’t see the leak. I guess it’s under the engine. Anyway this can be repaired without pulling the engine? I was told my boat has a fresh water cooling system. How can that be if the boat clearly was taking in ocean water? Thanks

That's how it works, ocean water cools the antifreeze in the heat exchanger. The leak isn't under the engine, should be clearly visible with maybe a light and mirror

can't be AF... It has to be Raw Water. Start at the where the water come through the outdrive to your HE and from there back to your exhaust manifolds... I is probably just a hose clamp that rusted and snapped... Double up all you hose clamps on your raw water side...

I just went thru this a couple weeks ago. My fresh water pump (s) were leaking. Well...one was so I had both replaced by the marina. They didn't say it was a big deal so no pulling the engines. But on the other hand I didn't get the bill yet...

My mechanic said: Motor runs smooth now, your cap had water in it, I pulled it all apart dried it out, and put it back together runs like new. Compression test came back good 120 across the board and 117 on 2 cylinders which is great also.

He is saying however that I have to replace the risers and manifolds due to the overheating and rubber boots. Is this the right verdict? Thanks
