Drain Plug

they are either the plunger style, or the 1/2" threaded ones.
look on the back of your boat and order accordingly

I just checked the price on that thing, $20 plus shipping can buy you a ton of spare plugs to keep in your truck.

I don't pick my boat up until next month and it's currently about 3 stories up in the boatel, so no chance to look at it.

I kinda liked the whole red bracket as a reminder, I think it's fairly cheap reminder insurance.....

Rob... it's both mate. I have heard the stories of people forgetting to put it in before launching and I figured this wasn't a a bad way to add a reminder while having a nice location for the plug. Heck... it's not like I am rich (we are talking about a 185 Sport) but it's only 20 bucks...

Hey Greg does your boat have the remote oil drain on it? On mine the plug is attached to the oil drain line so you really can't move the plug from the back the boat that much. It hangs at the end of the drain line.

Good question Chuck, I don't have a clue. Wesley, SeaRay Sport, can you guys shed some light on this? Thanks...

Chuck is right (man that was hard for me to say) it attaches to the oil plug. Here are my thoughts Greg, just get in the habit of checking it. There are several things that you have to do when you are preping your boat to load and this just needs to be one of the things that you do. Another option if your boat is kept indoors is to always leave it in but I am not a fan of this because you get use to it being in there and then one day it is not (read someone's father in law story). I have a set procedure that I do when we get to the prep zone at our ramp. The plug is always put in right after taking the tie downs off because you are at the back of the boat. What I suggest is make a list and take it with you the first couple of times. Start another topic and we will help you develop this list. Personally I would not buy the thing and no it is not because it is $20.00.

Hey Wesley I just had to see it again  :smt043  Do you leave your plug out? I'm always afraid it is going to come off the chain going down the road, so I always put mine back in. Most of my road trips are 2 plus hours.

I put mine in before leaving the driveway. When I got the boat the light bar in middle of the trailer was busted up from the drain plug swinging back and forth during trailering.

Never have thought of that before, sounds like I will be changing my approach. See that is why I love this board, you answer a question trying to help someone else and you realize you can improve your own procedures. Great point Chuck. I usually only trailer about 30 minutes to hour but still will take your advise.

I usually don't remove mine if I've just been riding with the wife and kids because the boat is dry. If we are attempting to wakeboard or tube or something then I'll drain the water, then put the plug in finger tight till I get home. I'll let it drain while I'm cleaning and put it in before I back her in the garage. I still check the plug before I back in the water just in case I forgot to tighten it. Usually walk around the boat before pulling up to the ramp and check for the usual, plug, straps, bumpers out...all that good stuff

It is the 1/2 inch brass plug. If you tow it back and forth, you wont forget it. When you raise the outdrive before towing, you would see it hanging down when you waked around to check to see if the outdrive was up all the way. You should get an extra plug with your paperwork as well. I did. Plus when you unstrap the boat before off loading, you should also see it hanging down, so I think it would be hard to over look.
