2 weeks ago I took an an air compressor set at 30 psi and connected it to my fresh water intake opened up my drain on my hot water heater and blew out my water heater until nothing came out. I vacuumed the water out of the compartment as it was draining. Once it was empty, I then closed the drain and blew out the rest of the system one by one. I came back this week and to my surprise I've got about 2" of water surrounding my water heater. Any Ideas?

There could be some water that may have got trapped. Do you bypass the water heater before dumping the system? After the system is down and you ran some antifreeze through, Leave the drain open along with a couple of faucets for the Winter. oh yea also with the water heater bypassed .

I did not bypass the water heater. Nor did I run antifreeze through it. I was under the impression that once it's blown out, I only need to add a gallon or so of AF through the drained fw tank pump by operating the vacuflush to ensure both are winterized. Thanks for the response.

i did what you did.
Almost...
First I drained the Hot Water Heater, then I bypassed it. I also put the shop vac hose at the drain of the HWH to make sure it was empty. Once bypassed, I then blew out the system using the compressor.
Don't forget to disconnect the hoses at the fresh water pump to make sure they are empty. That part wont get blown out by the compressor. Antifreeze down the heads and in the holding tank.
I poured a gallon of cheap vodka into the water tank to prevent whatever was left (if anything) from freezing.
Perhaps by not bypassing the HWH, the residual water in the lines from the water tank eventually made it into it and then the bilge?

Thanks for the reply.

When I do it, I use the full pressure 100 PSI on my compressor... I manually drain the water heater first. I also blow on both side of the water pump, which leads to the water heater. At the end, I open the water heater drain value and blow out the water heater... I also blow out the AC system (I added a hose connection by the strainer on the AC intake line. I blow through the AC pump...

I do the same thing on the AC side. So much easier...
