I had purchased one about the same time as the group buy here and given the personal testimony of the CSR member who organized it I hoped it would do the same for me. My wife didn't think our boat smelled funny, or moldy, or mildew...but there was something I didn't like. Granted, it spends a lot of time closed with the air conditioning on so it doesn't get a lot of nice fresh air.

Last weekend I took it to the boat and plugged it in at the galley. After doing work topside for about an hour I went below and there was a significant difference. After three hours and from then on the air smelled sweet and clean. My wife noticed too, but to me it was a huge difference. It's amazing how clean the air smells.

Excellent product.

I'm interested in getting one for my boat.Did you get the portable one? What was the price for the group buy?

The group buy was the same price I paid at Defender...$99. That's the current price there. It was the portable, the Breathe Easy unit that you plug in. We're away from the boat for two weeks this time which is shorter than usual, I left it running. However, next time down I'm going to plug it into a timer so it doesn't run 24/7.

You won't be sorry.

Thanks for the info. I just placed my order with Defender for one.

I actually bought a mains power dehumidifier for mine, I leave it sitting on a timer, empty the water tank weekly. The difference in the freshness of the boat is unbelievable

Just ordered one from defender first in my Expedition then in boat if it ever warms up to get boat in.

I have been impressed with this product. I purchased one in January at our Boat show and have left it plugged in 24/7.

I know you have a different unit but your sentiment is exactly how I feel. I thought the air conditioning would have done the trick but nope!

Velooce good to hear yours is still running. I want to see how it does on a timer. I'm really impressed.

How many hours a day do you run it?

I have the timer set to come on twice for 2 hours, realistically though I think I coud run it once a day for 2 hours.

I makes a huge difference to the smell of the boat, and no mould since I started using it 12 months ago

Thanks! I can't wait to get mine and try it out.
I wonder how well it would work in the cockpit fi I let it run under there with all the canvass up? It gets real hot under there in the summer, and I get some mildew on the underside of the canvass. I usually replace the side plastic window with screens I had made up for the real hot months, but would like to do something for rainy times.

The only thing I find, is that if we get a really wet couple of days (like today!) I need to empty the water tank sooner

I just picked one up at defender, and put it in cabin yesterday. I will be down later this morning to check it. Had it on high all night.

I also get mold on canvas in the cockpit. Clean it and it returns in about two weeks. I bought something called kanberra gel, and put it in the cockpit. It's supposed to stop mold. It's been a few weeks and no mold yet. But also haven't had any hot weather yet. Stuff is not cheap, but if it works it'll be worth it! At the very least cockpit smells great when I open it.

Ok... I just needed another reason to spend some money on the boat :smt013

I've just ordered mine

Ok, My wife noticed a difference as soon as she opened the cabin door. I did'nt notice much of a difference. Although she was the one complaining of a "funky " smell. I do smell the Kanberra gel when I walk into the cockpit though. If it works on the mold, I will get another for the Cabin also.
