When you leave the boat do you close your seacock fittings? How about on a long journey, do you close the ones you are not using?

Do you exercise them regularly?

Do you know where they are and how many you have?

Finally, do you have a bilge water alarm?

I read a question similar to this on another forum and it got me thinking.

ask the elvis beer gut squeaky chicken man. he'll point you in the right direction.

In the summer - no, in the winter - yes due to freezing concerns

I still don't know what that means....

Gary... you kill me.

And Presentation, in all seriousness... my answers to your specific questions are the same as Gary's.

My last post was serious!

I was also going to say that I have a wood plug by it in case it breaks off.

bunch of dirty minds on this board.

capnrude was right about all of you.

How do I excercise my sea cock?

By exercise I mean to close and re-open them to insure they are not stuck. On another board, THT, they were discussing that you need to exercise, meaning close an open them, or in time they may not close when you need them to.

I thought doing that caused you to go blind? I never mess with mine. I worry I might break it if I play with it too much.

I know this will not be taken seriously... but...

Are there supposed to be grease fittings on these things or can you add them? I noticed on mine, there is a plug on the side that looks like a grease fitting could go there... I've never greased mine though. If you keep it greased up, it sure would be easier to exercise it..

A zerk fitting for your seacock...

Isn't a seacock a ball valve?

And the float in your toilet tank at home... a "ballcock"??

This hurts...but on a serious note, my thru hulls get exercised frequently as I close them each time I check the strainers which is at least bi-weekly. I don't have anything on my thru hulls that looks like I could put a Zerk fitting on them (I think thats what grease fittings are called).

OK serious done.....now the smart a$$ stuff can start again! :smt043
