Disturbing story behind boat repair.

That's sick. "We just want to emphasize safety" - yeah, right. Nice fiberglass work though. Sex sells. So does this stuff.

They would better business without the blood!
That's just not right!

I agree, they could have executed their marketing plan isolating their service/product over the "details" of the reason the boat came in.

I think the people that were involved in this repair were deeply affected by this particular repair. It’s human nature to share things that have a profound affect on us. I believe their intention was to make people operate their boats in a safe and responsible manner. I don’t think they were expecting to sell more jobs while exploiting a young mans death. Boating can be deadly. That’s what I took from it. I suspect that’s why these people at the boat restoration shop shared it.

Bla bla bla buzz kill.

I could not stop looking at the damage wondering how someone died in a accident and caused so LITTLE damage to the boat

I had a similiar accident when I owned my 2004 Sea Ray 200 Sport.

Story:

I was on a man made lake that is very narrow in places. Almost the width of a river really. Anyways, it was 4th of July, and a lot of people and boats were out and many, I think, had a bit too much to drink.

Well, I was coming out of a cove and moving into the normal flow of boat traffic. 3 jet skis coming flying around the bend, and 1 of them (for some reason) thinks it is a good idea to turn around and look behind him for a full 10 seconds at WOT. Well, he strayed right into my path, and due to the narrow lake, there was no where for me to go. So, I immediately put the boat into neutral and let the bow rise up so that he wouldn't fly right into my open bow where my kids were sitting.

*SMACK*

He hit the front of my boat. I turned off my engine and proceded to cuss him out until he raised his arm out of the water and his elbow/bone was sticking out of his skin and lots of blood. I told him just to get to a hospital.

Crazy thing, just like in the pictures here, my boat had minimal damage. A scuff near the keel, and a chunk of skin in my rub rail.
