dirty docks

whats normal at your marina? my marina docks are so filthy its hard to clean your boat' ifyoubtouch or walk on the dock youleave a dirt print on the boat. went to st michaels this weekend and the docks were spotless. i picked my marina because it is across the street so i probably wont leave but am trying to get a sense of what is reasonable to expect

I have concrete fixed docks. Every spring I bleach and pressure wash the dock just to be sure you're not tracking muck in the boat. Seems to work for me.

Be sure there are no boats around when you pressure wash!

Put a mat or small rug on the dock that you can wipe your feet on b4 you board. If all else fail do what your mother (or Grandmother) told you do, take of your shoes.

I wash the walkways on both sides of my boat and behind the boat every weekend. If I want the dock clean, I have to do it myself. I have never complained about it to the marina, I just see the issue and take care of it.

You've got my vote for President! Most (not all) would complain, and then they would have to pay someone like me to do the job. I will be doing the floating dock at our Marina for free this year. It's gonna be my gift to the owners for keeping a good eye on all our boats.

We rinse down the boat everytime time we come back in, and rinse down the fingers and the dock in back of the boat. Only takes a few minutes but just seems to keep the place cleaner. Also destroys cobwebs.

I guess I'm fairly lucky....my marina is owned by a port district and they have work release prisoners out there about once a week hosing off the docks, picking up trash, etc.

Spoiled I am, and loving it.

Yes we are lucky Mike, getting our docks cleaned weekly, and they're fairly new.
I've been to the dock at Columbia point by Anthonys and the goose crap is terrible.

Kimoandkim----Try soap and water and a brush. Those 3 items combined will usually do the trick.
