Just wondering if there is a practical dinghy for my 240? I frequent a few spots that require a dinghy if I want to go a shore. Any ideas/options?

You may be able to install the extended swim step and go with a 7'6" or 8'6" inflatable w/inflatable keel that will sit & secure nicely.
The hard bottom dingys will damage the surface/gel coat of what they ride on in transit.

I had Baltik 6.5' that was sitting on the platform just fine. I think your 2004 has the same platform as my 2001 had.

Hulk723--
Agree with Sea Eagle. I had a 300 DA and bought the SE9, which was kept deflated in a B4 bag until I needed it. It is about 2X3 in the bag, which allowed me to store pretty much anywhere. I'm now tired of rowing and will buy the Torqeedo electric motor. As a result I'd also recommend buying the engine mount.

Thanks for the replies I'm going to check out the baltik and the Sea Eagle.

Al Gross- how much pf a pain is it to inflate when needed?

Hulk723,
Inflating the ding every time is a pain, which is the reason I've started looking at Nautley or Hurley davits. Notwithstanding that and to answer your question, it takes me about 15-20 minutes to inflate, which is reason I do not do so unless longer stay out on water. Time consuming, but necessary if you have a dog "that needs to go."

I bought a 8.5" Baltik a couple months ago. I like it. Right now since I haven't figured out how I want to attach it to the swim platform yet, I've stuck it on the bow. This has worked fine so far.

Todd,

BA85 is a great dink. I have it for 3 years now. It's wider than BA65, so I'm sure davits will be required for your boat as well as 240DA.

Todd have you given any thought to a motor yet? I just picked up a 9'6" Newport Vessels and am starting to look at motors now.

I think a 9'6" on a boat with an 8'-6" beam is a little much for docking. I have thought about a 4HP outboard, but want the twins to practice more rowing first. + where will I stow the outboard? I suppose empty from fuel and stow it in the Engine bay, but that may be questionable.

I purchased a 8' 6" Baltik last year for my 260 sundancer. I do have it mounted on the swim platform and I do trailer with it. I have not had an issue yet. Because of my hectic and busy schedule this spring I will not be able to take the boat out of storage until the first week of June. Once I do I will take a few pictures of the setup and post them.

I have a Boats to go, "Ka-Boat" 12ft long, but only 3ft wide. It gets on plane with a 3.3hp and is fun to run. I only paid $500.00 for it and it folds down nicely. You can check it out on their web site boatstogo.com. It's a SK396.

I'd like to see the pics.

That ka-boat seems to move through the water pretty good, 12' seems long but I guess thats better than being too wide.

It does really well because it is so narrow, maybe 3 ft wide. I put it on the swim platform or pull it on the back of the boat. I just adjust it to one side so that the one end is flush with the side of the boat allowing room when pulled next to the pier, OR when I get to a slip, I just kick it in the water and dock with it tied to the bow. You can get used to things better than you'd think.
To me it's worth the trouble to have the speed. Mike
