Anyone been out in the northern part of the bay. Any junk out there from Irene and now Lee?

I remember from the last hurricane there was a maple tree floating down the bay!

They turned the electric off on our pier at the marina as there was a very high tide predicted....

Tons of debris coming down the Susquehanna River past our marina headed out to the Bay. Full size trees and even a sailboat that broke free from its mooring. Crazy flooding in Port Deposit and Havre de Grace, MD along the Susky. Luckily, our marina has floating docks with high pilings. We were a couple of feet away from breaking free but survived without issue unlike some of the other marinas in the area.

I hope everyone up there is OK. I think I'll leave my boat on the rack for a couple of days.

Thanks folks for the feedback! Yep I'll pass this weekend and hang out at the pool!, I know how bad the Susquehanna is first hand and it's all headed down stream as there is so much water going over the dams and not much to stop it.

They told me Holtwood plant was evacuated and that there was 960K cu ft per min going over. That rate is only exceeded by Agnes at 1.012M cu ft. Said Peach Bottom was going offline as well as of Thurs. They might be back up again but there is still a lot of water up North making it's way South.

Take Care.

On Sat 9/10 I went over the Conowingo dam and there were still 40+ gates open. The shear volume of water was amazing as was the current. The water looked like chocolate milk. I'd expect alot of debris for some time to come.

I was planning on bringing my boat back from Tolchester on Saturday. The service manager told me not to leave unless I absolutely had to. He said it's getting better day by day but still alot out there.

I went to the IH this past Saturday to watch the Ravens, Slow ride lots of debris, came back Monday, much better only had to slow down when making the turn into the cut, need to keep a good lookout. Bob

It is amazing the amount of trash that came down the river last week here in Williamsport. Loyalcock Creek was 10ft higher than 1972 Agnes and epties into the Susquehanna. They really need to clean out the small streams and not let people rebuild next to them. Our 1st house was a cottage on the creek and I'm sure it's gone. The road/highway was destroyed so we can't check it out yet. We lost an entire campground with 25 RV hookups so I'm sure it's all coming your way firewood and all. People love to be next to the water to relax but all their stuff ends up in the creek every 5-10 years. Streams need cleaned and people need moved back. We remove all our stuff at the boat club when the river comes up so I guess I can say....we do our part to keep the bay clean. All the debris that ends up on our land is from others upstream that do not care or have the sense to know better. Most people do not have a clue, Mike.

I was at my marina Friday evening and there were still tons of floating debris all over the place. There were lots of fairly large logs, pieces of lumber, railroad ties, and other garbage floating in the slips between boats. I pulled a piece of somebody's garden trellis out of the water. Its stilll very ugly out there.

I noticed some of the large debris is getting waterlogged and hanging just below the surface. I also saw a picnic table floating along downstream from the Occoquan.

UGH,

Doozie and Skibum you'll not making me feel any better!!!! Sunday is looking interesting and I am still hoping to get to Inner Harbor for Fells Point Fun Fest!!!!

Looks like I may be able to test out the trawler like side of the boat. On the bright side I won't have to worry about 20K winds at that rate of speed!!

Thanks for the updates!!!

So... has anyone been out on the upper Bay lately? I haven't been able to get up the nerve to put my boat in the water.

I ran from Tolchester to the Bohemia River yesterday. There is still debris out there but everything I saw was small. The problem is, you don't know whats on the other end of the twigs that are floating... Surprisingly, Turkey Pt to Sassafras was the worst part. I would have thought it was well past there by now.

I'm on the upper bay, North East River, and last week herd of debris from Turkey Pt. on down.
This debris was from a rain storm on Friday Sept. 23.
Friends and I are heading to Baltimore this Friday Oct.7 and concerned about the debris.
Has anyone been out this past few days and seen debris?

I was in the mouth of the patapsco trying to do a little fishing on saturday--still a great deal of debris in the water-tree branches large and small , firewood, occasional piece of pilling. middle river and the area behind Hart-Miller was fairly clean

I spoke with the manager of my marina Friday night. He recommended against going south, towards the bridge. He echoed 33ec's comment that behind Hart Miller is ok. He's still hearing about 30 foot trees, tables, lumber, and even a metal oxygen tank floating around. He hauled one fellow out that couldn't get on plane. He found a piece of 2x4 lodged in the cavitation plate.

I take my previous comment back about it being clear. Left Friday afternoon to go to Baltimore for Fell's Point and hit something. There was a huge line of debris from Turkey Pt to the Sassafras.

We ran 2 weeks ago to Rock Hall and this past weekend to Bear Creek, some debris, mostly small stuff, did not see major trees or tables and such, just need to keep an eye out. Bob

We are thinking of going to St. Michael's this coming weekend. Haven't been out on the water in 7 weeks. Thanks Marine Max! Any new reports since last weekend?
