I haven't been following the mid Atlantic weather super close this year but up in the Northeast we have had a ton of rain.

We're looking at possibly being in Chesapeake in late August. The last time we were there 5 or so years ago there were trees and logs everywhere. Just wondering if it's bad this year if the rivers are all swollen from rain?

Nope, in upper bay, I’ve crossed multiple times, crossing Saturday. Have not encountered any debris. Youre talking 6 weeks, anything can change by then. Check back a week before you arrive.

Ran from Middle River to Cape May and back over the 4th week, no issues

Not sure when you saw all of that, but it's been fine as always. The only time it gets like you describe is when they open the Dams. Then it gets as you describe for a few days, maybe weeks. Sometimes in the early spring, but August is generally fine, the dams don't usually over flow at that time of year.

Travelled the Long Island sound to block island twice so far. Last week the trip home, block island sound, and Long Island sound were loaded with hazards. A lot of logs and rotted wood. Spoke with another guy who was traveling from the Connecticut river westward and he encountered a ton off shit this morning.

Edit: I must have missed the portion about the Chesapeake…

Chesapeake bay is the only body of water I have seen a fridge….it was after a bad storm northern part

You should see what the Connecticut river looks like in spring time or after a really bad storm. All the crap flows down from Hartford, a real mess.

5 years ago, I remember it well. http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php...g-to-chesapeake-bay.87178/page-6#post-1006804 Bummer pics are gone.

That's Engineer's Cove by the Chesapeake Inn.

As has been said, the debris comes from the Conowingo Dam and is usually only an issue up around the mouth of the C&D Canal, Susquehanna Flats, Elk, Northeast and Bohemia Rivers for a few days after a mass opening. It's usually sunk by the time it gets to Poole's Island and below. We haven't had much debris to speak of this summer.

I’m not sure where in the Bay you plan to be. So far this year we have had very little debris come down from Richmond. We usually see trees, logs, or old docks before it hits Hampton Roads and then the Bay

Lots of junk coming out of the rivers in Connecticut.
