Any recommendations for fun day or even weekend trips from Charleston??

Have an SRV 225 and am happy to anchor or stop at a marina. Don't do fishing but swimming and just relaxing are the plan.

Thanks

I have heard it is a nice trip to Beaufort and Hilton Head as well although I have never been. I suppose you could go to Ft Sumter as well. I am not sure if they have a public dock though.

I would love to go down there sometime. My lake is like a ball and chain on me until I get a tow vehicle to get my boat elsewhere.

Some suggestions for day trips: head south then up Stono River to Sandy Point beach on Kiawah Island, or up Folly River to Morris Island, or north up Icw to Capers Island or Bull Island.

How about a river run up to lock? Eat at the resturant then head back down if you don't want to go throught the lock?

Jason,

I agree with the ball and chain. I looked at the cost of even a well used tow vehicle and trailer and decided it was more cost effective to pay for a boat hauler a couple times a year. I'm bringing my boat down to Charleston for the month of July. We will be docking at Charleston Harbor Marina where I have spent a lot of time with a prior boat. Not cheap as I will be paying for two slips that month but we plan to spend a lot of time there.

Beaufort/Hilton Head is too far for a day trip. You are looking at 3-4 to Beaufort and another hour to HH. As Sadler said, Folly Beach/Morris Island & North to Bulls Bay area. Sadler what was that beach we went to around Bulls Bay area that was so nice?

Jason,
You gotta get off the wallet dude! Go buy a trailer and see the world! Lake Wylie ain't got nothing compared to what you can see and do on our beautiful SC coast.

I know I know. If it was just a matter of a trailer it would be a done deal by now. Unfortunately I have a Half Ton truck, not 3/4 ton needed to pull my boat so I am basically looking at shelling out a minimum of 15K just to get to other lakes and the coast. That is what the hold up is. Maybe next year. Not sure it is in the budget this year. Trust me, not a day goes by that I don't think about it! All these Charleston and Bimini posts lately are really making it bad!

North end of Dewees or South end of Capers is nice. Also the beach between Ft. Johnson and Ft. Sumter is easy to get to. Goes without saying, watch your falling tides.

Jason:

How much would these guys charge to haul your 280 to Charleston and Back?

Looks like they are somewhat close. I have also seen guys on Craigslist that look legit for hauling.

great trip would be to Bohicket Marina on Seabrook Island next to Kiawah
very good lunch places at the marina and Freshfields and an hour ride on the ICW and almost the same on the outside
