Well I am at a loss......not that this would take much..... :smt021 ....I thought my electric dual trumpet horn was shot because all it would do is make a strange niose when you hit the button.....its ahrd to describe....like its trying to sound, but cant.....SO, I replaced the horn(tested pror to change and was ok) and....yep you guessed it.....same problem......Any Ideas????

Ah, yes. The infamous Sea Ray horn. Have you ever wondered why ducks seem particularly attracted to your boat?

When you pre-tested the horn, did you test with the leads at the bow or from another battery source?

"Sounds" like (pun intended) you are not getting full voltage to the load/horn. Maybe either a loose or corroded connection at the swith, or somewhere else along the line.....first thing is to measure the voltage at the load, then trace the wires and look for loose or corroded connections.

You guys QUACK me up... :smt043

I always take mine apart and soak it silicone spray overnight, put it back together and lasts the entire season.

I am not going to invest in that horn .. i have always a couple of portable canister air horns on hand at the helm.

when I pre-tested it, it was from a battery....not on the boat. OK...i guess maybe the voltage check is about all i can do. the wires run under the ceiling upholstery, and I sure dont want to tackle taking that apart.

When my horns started to do the duck call it was usually related to failing batteries. While the horns were generally not very reliable, they usually worked when the batteries were fresh. Air horns are the way to go.

I dont think its a battery problem....I have 2 new ones and just charged them the day before.......I am waiting for a day off so i can get a buddy to help me with the power level check......If this isnt it, i will check the switch...is there a relay somewhere???
If i can fix it, I guess i will just have to settle for being "Hooked on Quack"  :smt021 :smt038 :smt100

The other reason my horns failed was the kid who washed the boat hit them with the water hose and filled one with water. It never recovered and I replaced it.
