I might be the only one but in the AM's it takes minutes upon minutes to load the site, my posts don't go through half the time, everything takes a very long time. Then, suddenly, it seems to work again. All new features since the upgrade.

It's really unfortunate. About 90% of the online content I consume comes from this site. I appreciate the free-ness (not a word) of this place but man...I only have so much patience. My morning coffee routine is being severely impacted.

Big time bummer....

Yeah last night about 11:00 i tried getting on and it took 4 or 5 minutes for each page to load up. This morning same thing. I'm using Chrome on a PC

P.S.-tried posting this 4 times so far and no luck. One page came back saying site can't be reached

P.S.-tried posting this 6 times so far and no luck (i keep upping that number each time I have to try again...lol). One page came back saying site can't be reached

Same here, this morning, a bit earlier, was nothing but timeouts. So far the upgrade has been anything but that.

There must be something interfering with the site. Most of the time it is lightning fast since the upgrade. Other times it won't load, is very slow or times out. Doesn't matter what device. tried on my iPhone, iPad and Chrome on a PC.

Pretty consistent early in the morning its slow. But then, it was slow early in the morning before the upgrade.

I gave up this morning, came back in just now and it is fine.

If I had to put money on it......I would bet the hosting facility is getting hit with DNS attacks and they haven't spent the money to manage them properly.

There are plenty of diagnostic tools out there to figure out the issue. And yes, it has to be something on the hosting end since all of us experience it.

THIS or something similar. Regarding the money, this is a free site so I would not expect "fixing" this, if there is a cost, to be the sites #1 priority, so I just deal with it.

My guess is the attacks have nothing to do with CSR other than it is at the hosting facility. I would bet they have some other clients who are getting pounded by DNS attacks. The timing is such that it seems as the attacks originate around the same time every day.

I always assumed there was some type of maintenance going on since the window is predictable (before and after the upgrade).

I didn't even think about DOS attacks. But I still think it may be service related as it does seem to exist at other times as well. Real Denial Of Service attacks are usually constant and don't give up. I had a DOS attack on my Ring camera and it went on for days, so bad I turned my phone off because of the constant validation SMS's.

This problem only seemed to arise after the upgrade. So if this was done on the same server and in the same facility then I would think it was more software related unless we can determine the issues are related to packet loss to and from the server that could indicate a network issue or something like a DDOS attack. Timeouts and slow responses can be caused by many things. Also based on my personal experience I have lost faith in the fact the programmers know what they are doing anymore (but that is another rant).

My thoughts would be a database indexing issue, local background house keeping processes, site library dependencies or even a remote site dependencies from a CDN that is responding slowly are variable times.

There is a bunch of things that are being handled off server:

and don't forget those annoying ads everyone was complaining about - they get loaded from remote servers too.

I had the horrible slowness yesterday but today has been fine, I’m on my old 6th Gen IPad with the latest software and Crystal ad blocker. I did do the : Settings/Safari/Clear History and Website Data yesterday and it seemed to help a little.
