Saw this now we need a new information stream. Sick, and dead by vaccine

Both individuals (all two of them) are recovering. I wonder how many will read these kinds of horror stories, refuse the vaccine, and end up dying from covid. I'm guessing far more than those who end up having an allergic reaction.

Moreover, some percentage of the population has an allergic reaction to even the standard flu vaccine. It is important for each of us to maintain perspective, employ critical thinking skills, and do our own risk assessment.

Taken from USA Today regarding allergic reaction in the UK from vaccine

"If you start issuing recommendations that anyone with an EpiPen doesn't get vaccinated, that could be a showstopper for Americans," he said. About 3 to 4 million Americans carry epinephrine with them at all times in case of allergic reactions, Hotez noted, and 50 million have less severe allergies.

Hotez was confused by the allergic reaction, which was not predicted by trials in tens of thousands of people.

People not wanting to get the vaccine are only going to harm themselves and not the ones that are vaccinated. At some point they will run into problems being able to do anything. I expect many businesses will require it (cruises, air travel, etc), eventually schools will as well once it's approved for children and it will become a condition of employment in many occupations. It's fine to not take it, that is an individual choice but living with the repercussions is also a choice. At that point if they still don't want to do it then Darwin will figure it out.
I don't know, maybe I'm missing something here. How does ME not getting the vaccine put YOU who got the vaccine in harm's way? Why does anyone care if I get the vaccine at all? If you want to get the vaccine by all means do so to protect yourself. And when you do, please leave me the f#$% alone and let me choose my own course. You told me I need to wear a mask to protect YOU so I do. But now YOU can protect YOURSELF and I can choose my own course.

Comply or else, Comrade.

See the chart done by Carnegie Mellon on % of mask-wearing (https://delphi.cmu.edu/covidcast/?s...lue&encoding=color&mode=overview&region=42003). Select the 'states' option. Then hover over a state and you'll see the % of mask-wearing compliance. Since the study (https://arxiv.org/pdf/2004.13553.pdf) showing "Universal masking at 80 [percent] adoption flattens the curve significantly more than maintaining a strict lockdown", it's interesting to note that many places are well over 80% compliance yet there's a lot of positive tests and resurgent lockdowns. That brings up the question of how well indeed do masks work?

Kinda like the question of what's the best wax for the boat? Or has the quality of Bayliners improved over time?

Just as I suspected. IL is at 89% mask wearing with may area in the Chicago suburbs in the mid 90% range. Yet we where pummeled by the virus and are now on the way back down. Underwear masks don't work. Surgical and N95s maybe give you a chance. Both might give people a false sense of security and/or lead to more face touching and thus any benefits of masks might be undone.

I think you both need to go back and actually read what I wrote as I think we are in complete agreement. After a person is vaccinated, they don't need to concern themselves at all with others who won't. People who choose not to be vaccinated do need to accept the consequences of their non-action. If that means they will be excluded from certain activities, then that will be the result of their choice.
Society as a whole may still continue to care since there will be individuals who are unable to get the vaccine (looks like anybody with an epi-pen, at least for now) for medical reasons. To the extent there are insufficient individuals who want the vaccine to achieve herd immunity, mitigations may need to continue indefinitely.

Does a herd mentality lead to herd immunity? That's really the current experiment. So far it's not looking good.

PA Governor just tested positive today. He has been preaching about mask wearing and staying in your house and had shut down the whole state. Guess he didn't follow his own guidelines. What a surprise

Or he did follow his own guidelines and the crap doesn’t work

The wearing of masks, social distancing, shutdowns, etc. have been on the increase for the better part of a year. If these things work, should we not be seeing an inverse decline in infections?

This just in. all citizens are hereby prohibited from breathing in public. That right there is a guaranteed cure.

We live in Canada and have friends in various part of the US one in the south commented they had a spike in the summer because every one was inside buildings because they had AC. He said wait till it gets cold in the north and they will spike.

Early this spring they said wait till it gets warm and everyone is outside. Then when summer came they said wait till it gets cold and everyone is inside

I guess all the Brown Shirts trying to guilt, shame or force people into getting the vaccine because it's "for everyone else's safety" have never heard of shedding.

So 300,000 COVID deaths this year. What happened to the 40,000/year that die from the flu and maybe another 200,000 that die from old age (made up that number). But you get my point. Nobody has died from the flu or old age all year?
