I have a Magma Newport grill. My question for those that have a Newport or Catalina model Magma grill have you ever tried cooking with the Cedar Planks? Does it get hot enough to get the Cedar wood smoldering and/or burning?

Todd (Nehalennia) has done it -- I recall that he posted pics. The Magma's get plenty hot. Too hot for me sometimes.

I have the Catalina and regularly do cedar-planked salmon. Works fine.

Yep it works very well actually. Just keep the edges of the cedar wet and make sure it soaks a min of 2 hours
