Cook top stove, is it really used?

Use ours, along with the convection oven, all the time.... Must be a diesel thing.

Use ours all the time. Can't use a grill at a marina and we live on our boat weekends-on the hook or at the marina. We also use our microwave (more than the stove) and a toaster oven (we've baked cookies in that). I'd keep the cook top but fabricate a top for when you are not using it.

We also have a butane stove in the cabin, and two more we use outside, the admiral uses them all the time. I have boiled water once, she does all the cooking...must be a gaz boat thing.

Thanks for all the input. I was looking at the option of removing it but it sounds like I should keep it. I'll try moving some things around on paper and see what I can do with the space. I will let you know what I come up with.

The OP pulled it and replace it with a nice counter with storage under it. He pulled the sink and the holding tank as well. Never missed them. If we are going to cook it is going to be on the grill. We have a plug in style coffee pot for hot water. We use a lot of dry wipe cleaning towels.

I use mine all the time... Never cooked on it, I just turn it on everytime I start the generator to exercise it.

We use ours every once in awhile. Enough so that we'd miss it. Boiling water for pasta and other side dishes is the norm. Use the microwave even more so.

But we just purchased a gas grill for the cockpit, so we'll see how all that works out!

The admiral uses the stove constantly. I was scared to death to fire that thing up, as our boat is 30+ years old. Stove looked like it was used only a couple of times thoguh, and fired right up. Now it's used at least twice a week. We also have a Magma Party Grill that's attached to the stern, along with a microwave, etc. I'm surprised she doesn't have a side-by-side fridge crammed down there...

Microwave or grille as well on the water. Usually a restaurant if tied up. I use it more to stress the gennie than anything else!! I'd rather have the counter space. I like the idea of a gas canister model expecially if I could recess it and have a cutting board type of cover built for the opening.

Do you have any pix Kiwi?

No I dont, will try and get a snap this weekend

We use ours for side dishes and the grill and microwave primarily. The orginal acohol stove was flawless, but we changed out to a Wallis diesel stove/heater which works great as heater and stove combo. The only complaint is it is slow to heat up (6min) but the fall and winter it is sure nice.

I actually don't like the electric stove. It puts out about the same heat as a hair dryer. I wish I had a propane powered gas stove... a "mini viking" if you will.

We use ours all the time. I also use the BBQ grill. The problem with the electric stove as FS has stated it take a while to heat up. Although that may have more to do with the small genny (3KW) I have. Once it gets going though it cooks real nice. I would prefer a propane stove and a oven.

Surprised to hear the coments about the electric stove taking a while to heat up, or not putting out enough heat.
Ours gets red hot real fast. No probem boiling a kettle or pot of water. But that is on shore power. I don't have a genny.

I changed our original electric/pressurized unit out to alcohol and reused the cutting board cover for counterspace. No genny and time on the hook made electric useless.

It heats the coffee and cooks any meal not done on the grill. Since we spend mostly weekends we've gotten to where we'll pre-cook/grill at home and then use it to re-heat/finish the food.
