Any of you Jersey guys hear that Consumer Marine in Wall has gone "paws in the air"? Friend just called and said the door was Padlocked. That place had great prices on electronics and all sorts of other "stuff".

SHOOT! Had no idea. I've been in there a bunch of times. Shame.

They were bought out by Overtons, then Overtons by Gander Mountain, and I think ultimately are moving all operations to the carolinas or something. So I am not sure they have gone under, just moving. However, with the tight margins in our industry and them being owned by gander means they have to charge tax to almost everybody, so I can't see how they will move forward.

I read someplace, can't remember where, that they are working on a way for everyone to pay taxes on internet and out of state sales. With so much stuff being bought on the internet, I am sure they are trying to figure this out pretty quick. And you know the guys that are going to get screwed right......the companies selling over the internet or out of state that now has to figure out these new tax laws.

I can't see how they are going to do it, but I did read someplace they were trying to figure something out on that lost revenue. I will try and find it again.

They were there on Saturday, today they're locked up.

Guess I can throw their latest catalog away.

Don't know if it's just the Hwy 34 location only or others - I've got things from them before that shipped from NC and other places. I know a local installer who has dealt with them for years - will likely see him around the dock tomorrow and will ask him what's up.

got an e-mail solicitation from them this morning. The address still shows Wall, NJ.
