Come on nice weather!!

We've had early Spring type weather around here these past few days but that can change quickly.
My target date every year is March 1st. It's kind of the light at the end of the miserably dark and cold winter weather. That's when I can start to make plans to do outdoor chores. Although March can bring winter like weather it is almost a guarantee that the 7 day forecast will include at least a day or two of 60 degree highs where I can get some things done around the house, in the garage, and on the cars.

I just got back to WA from AZ on Thursday evening. What a change--I left 75* weather and flew into 30* weather. B-R-R-R-R-R.

Friday morning I drove by the marina and saw it still had a thin layer of ice in much of the marina. By Friday late afternoon it was all gone. YEAH!!

I have a ton of stuff to do to get the boat ready but it's still to cold to wash it and that's the first thing I'm going to do.

C'MON SUMMER!!!!

While it's been beautiful here lately, it is going into the mid thirties tonight so everything except the motor is still winterized. Marina had a waterline blow out to our dock and they just had it fixed. Giant layer of grit on everything waiting for the hose when it warms up!

tdgard, I can relate to the layer of grit. This was the worst winter in this area in many years. Colder than average, much more snow than usual, lots of freezing rain, lots of wind and dust. Yuck. The decks look brown instead of white.

They don't usually turn the water on in the marina until around first of April, so there's another full month before we can fill the water tanks. I usually just dip water out of the river using a pail on a rope to wash the boat down.

Clear and cool here this weekend but next weekend looks like 70 or more! Too bad our rivers are overflowing, some are closed to boat traffic and there is a lot of debris still out there floating. I may not take her out until April...

Ken, why would they close the rivers to boating when the water is high?
The water is breaching the levees in some areas. They also believe that boat wakes can compromise the levees considering there may be a foot or two of levee above water when we normally see 6' or better. It's pretty much a mess out here for a while longer. As the snow melts, much more water will be coming next the lakes can't handle any more.

You didn't happen to catch the coastguard interview regarding the debris on KTVU last week or the week prior did you?
