Colored Hulls - Trouble?

Green hulls on our lake aren't popular. I have only seen 1 other than ours.
Everyone knows our boat. I like the green and looks sharp.

I happened to notice that a lot of peoples boats that have responded to this are relatively new. My boats are 14 and 9 years old. Wait until the fiberglass has a few more years if sun on it. Colored hulls can always be painted if they get too oxidized if you really want a colored hull. I really like the way a colored hull looks however I doubt I will ever buy one again.

White is timeless.

To clarify....I really do like colored (can I say that) hulls. I almost bought a "palm beach" design formula in the 80's..Glad I didn't. I see different colors and think...Wow I like that alot....Only to see in a couple of years that what once looks nice and different loses it's luster so to speak.

Sure you can.... I was just kidd'n around.

I can't and won't comment directly on the dark colored hull maintenance 'cause I don't own one. But, it's clear that no matter how you slice it- it's more maintenance than a light colored hull...

If you're not prepared to dedicate the extra time (or money) to keep it maintained, I think you're best to pass on it. I saw a recent model 340 DA a few days ago in the water at a local marina with a blue hull- and the blue gelcoat looked like crap. The boat didn't look "neglected" per se, but I'm sure the owner hasn't been putting in the necessary time. Obviously, this is much more of an issue in the Florida sun than it would be in the Northeast.

If I wanted a colored hull, I'd do it with Awlgrip. Maintenance free...

Today's hot color is yesterday's hot color.

This topic is sort of like the diesel vs. gas... or the single vs. twins.
It's personal preference... and I'm glad we're all different.
