Colon Problems

cr0ck1 - Sorry to hear about your trouble and while the holding tank is for all other information, do you think you would be better asking for advise on a medical site instead of a Sea Ray site. I know we have some smart people on here but you are talking about prescriptions on a boating site, seriously. Good luck with everything but again I would search for answers for this problem on another site.

Wesley

Dont you think i have already asked on medical sites.. And i actually got a better responce and more personal experiences about on this site! When you are part of a site you like to ask people things.. Thats why MOST SITES have a section for personal problems .. Maybee you should put up a section for that stuff.. Remember we are not robots we dont ONLY use boats. One day we can be on out BOAT and have a divertivilitis and have serious complications. So i guess if i changed the name of this thread to colon problems on my sea ray it would be better?... take the joke wesley. lol

I would rather ask a bunch of Sea Ray folks for information about almost anything, including medical, than almost any other site. It's all about exchanging thoughts and ideas, not actual prescriptions.

+1 i agree on that one .

Crock,

I hope everything works out OK for you. I had a colonoscopy back in June. Between that and an MRI they were able to determine that my gall bladder was bad. It actually went bad about 12 years ago, and I've been walking around like that the whole time. I had surgery on Sept 12th to remove it, and clean up a few adhesions that were a side effect of the gall bladder going bad.
I can finally get back to boating next weekend. :smt038

At any rate, when I had the colonoscopy my doctor had me pick up a "Fleet prep kit" at Walgreens. It had a small bottle of liquid that wasn't all that horrible to drink. It also had a couple of pills. You drink the drink around noon, and for the rest of the day its all water, pills, and an hour or so on the throne. It wasn't all that bad. It was also pretty inexpensive if I remember correctly. I think about $10.

Good luck and hang in there. The worst part of the colonoscopy itself is getting the IV. Once that is done you basically sleep through it. I had no pain or discomfort at all from the procedure.

Michael

IMa check in to this fleet prep kit. thanks

Crock, there are some things that should not see the light of day. :smt043

Pictures of Uranus are one of them. :smt043

Yea but Crock's bowls could be davy's locker and you might find some of things you've lost over the years to it.

:smt043

Seriously, hope you get well quickly so you can get back to groundin your boat

Kind of on topic (health related)......

Has any one here ever heard of acoustic neuroma? Seriously.

John

I have not heard of it, but do see it on the internet. I know these are things that just have to be worked through, and I personally am not strong at standing up to them. But so far things I have thought might be very serious have turned out not to be.

Crock, I just had the colonoscopy thing done about a year ago. As was mentioned, the IV part was the worst, as they failed two attempts to get them started in the back of my hand. I had a vasovagal reaction, like fainting. My wife, who is a nurse, stepped in and told them how it would be done, and then it was successful. It stressed her out more than it did me.

Hope the best for both of you guys, hang in there.

Crock,

First good luck with all of this. I'm sure it is not what you needed as you still try to get settled in Florida.

Co-lyte is another brand of Go-Lytely. Always wondered why the called it Go-Go-Lytely when you do the exact opposite. I guess the guys in their marketing department got a big chuckle out of that one. Some physicians used to allow you to flavor your Co-lyte with something like Crystal light lemonade. Also some people find the Co-lyte more palatable if it is refrigerated as opposed to warm.

All these different suggested preps may work but might be intended for different procedures. Your physician is prescribing what he thinks works best for him and you. Neither of you want to have to repeat the procedure.

Please don't change your prep without first talking with your doctor. He might reject your on the day of procedure.

Take Care
