Coleman dinghy

Looks like a Tohatsu motor/relabeled. Not sure on the quality of the dinghy.

A friend of mine has the coleman motor and loves it, got it at Sams Club in Orlando

The BJ's warehouse by me has the dunk for $499 & I think the motor is around $900.

Just checked it out. Dinghy looks brand new and the motor was still in the box. We put oil and gas in the motor and it fired right up. Bought it for $750 including a seperate gas tank and line. Im thinking I got a great deal but I guess we'll see.

Thanks for the input.

Sounds good to me, the engine is worth the price alone... BTW, why was he selling it?

I bought one last year and am generally pleased. My kids use it but I underpowered it on purpose. Takes 2 people to get it together and was a good bang for the buck. In hindsight, I think one with an inflatable floor would have been a better way to go since. I don't keep it on the boat all the time.
West Marine had ones with high pressure floors, but they were pricey.

The guy picked it up at an auction.

It does have an inflatable keel.

I'll be trying it out this weekend so we'll see how well it works.

I mistyped what I meant to say. Yes, it does have an inflatable keel and has an aluminum snap together floor.

What I meant to say was that I would have gotten one with a high-pressure inflatable floor instead.

Well I got a chance to take the new dinghy out this weekend and I can say that I am plesantly surprised. It got up on plane fairly quickly and has a nice dry ride. Only one big problem... the motor wont fit in the my transom box :( Now I'm on the search for a smaller, same HP, motor. Sounds like I'll need to find a 2 stroke.
Anyone want to trade???

After owning the coleman for a couple weeks now are you still happy with it? What hp motor do you have that's getting you on Plane? Im also wondering how im going to register? Does cosco give you the proper paperwork? Does it come with bill of sale or title ? Does it have a hin?

You have to call Coleman Power Sports for the Certificate of Origin. Take that and the receipt to DMV and you register it just like the boat.

Yes, it has a HIN and a plate stamped on the transom. I bought a brand new 2 1/2hp Suzuki for ours but should have gotten a 4hp instead.....

Anyone in Nassau/Suffolk want to trade a gently used 4hp with a built-in tank for my 2 1/2 HP that has about 5 - 6 hours ?

I went to bjs today to take a look at the coleman dink and it actually looks very well built. Im gunna go for it and c what happens. I asked the "sales guy" what paper work it came with (bill of sale, title , anything to register it with) and he said just show then the receipt lol then he says you don't need to register it. Then I explained the law about having to and he said oh yea the paperwork is I.ln the box. Dumbass lol whatever ill call. Coleman tomorow and ask them

Sorry I haven’tkept up with this thread. I still love my Coleman. It came with the 5HP 4stroke Coleman motor. I have since sold that and purchased a 2 stroke 5HP Merc. The Merc is smaller over all and fits in the transom storage nicely. Ipurchased mine from a private party so to register it I had a notarized bill ofsale and all the numbers from the dink and motor and in about 2 weeks received atitle and registration.

Good luck. I think you'll be presently surprised.

Well I bought it. I had to call Coleman and there sending me out a cert of origin. So that's takin care of. I had a chance to assemble it ( that floor sucks to put it to say the lease) dropped my 6 hp Suzuki on it and went for a ride. Almost flipped it when I hit the gas lol. So I sat on the seat up front more and it hoped right on plane and GPS was reading 17.3 mph. I'm very impressed in the stability and controllability of it. All in all I'm very happy and didn't hurt my bank. Wish it was a little bigger but hey next time. Thanks for all your help.

Alright 2 more questions. First. Coleman never made a cover specifically for this dink. What dink do you think would be the best/closes fit? I also wanted to put lights on it. What glue do you use to glue the plastic mount to th pvc dingy?
