My stereo in the cockpit of our 2004 390DA just quit. Would there be a fuse somewhere that has blown? Stereo still works fine in the salon.

What brand of stereo do you have Buddy? Most stereos DO have an inline fuse attached to either the power (yellow) wire or memory (red) wire. If you can get to the wires on the back of the stereo you should be able to see what I'm talking about. Also flip your breaker for the cockpit stereo on and off, maybe tripped but not visibly on the breaker board.

Just double checked the layout of your boat year, should only be 1 "stereo" on the boat. Check the rocker switches when you enter your cabin that turn on and off the cockpit and cabin speakers. These switches turn on and off the respective amps that power your speakers and should be located in the cabin area.

Exactly what I was thinking. There should be 2 speaker switches at the stair leading to the cabin.

I just looked at your owner's manual and that set of rocker switches is located on your left side (port) of the stairs when you enter the cabin. The first switch is the "cockpit" amp turn on, good luck

They had fun with mine. The cockpit switch operates the cabin and the cabin switch operates the cockpit. I may swap them at some point but I have more chores to do!

Boat is great, speaker switches were probably a joke (on a Friday)!

I have only 1 stereo on board but the cockpit switch stopped working. Could it be the amp for the cockpit? Clarion XMD3 stereo with CD changer.

It could be the cockpit amp. Maybe there is a fuse that has failed? It should be behind the sofa in the cabin.

The switch is just to turn the amp on and off, so it likely has something to do with the amp.

Kid, I had a problem with mine that sounds much like yours, you might get your clairon owners manual out and go thru the set up procedure. Somehow my balance was turned off. Good luck. Steve

take the top portion of your sofa up and out, and you'll have access to both amps. Check power to the amp when turning the switch on. If yes, Swap the output leads between the two amps to see if the small amp connected to cockpit gives you sound. Then you know it's something wrong with the 'big' amp powering the cockpit speakers.

If it ends up being the stereo, I have an extra (sans CD) that I'll let go cheap
