Well, we're finally past the holidays and it's time to start on my winter worklist for the boat. How do you guys clean your carpets? Do it yourself or have someone do it? In either case, do you remove the ones that can be taken off the boat and have them done at home or do you do them all on the boat? My salon and stateroom carpets aren't very dirty, thanks to the carpet liners, but the cockpit and bridge carpets are fairly soiled after just the one season. In any event they'll all get a cleaning before the boat splashes again in about 10 weeks.

I use a home carpet cleaner that actually has a small upholstery attachment. Throw some Dupont carpet cleaner in it and go to town. It takes stains out amazingly well.

The yearly ritual... First the carpet liners go into the washing machine at home, let dry on a rack, spray with protector, 3M. We get the cabin carpets cleaned professionaly every three years. The cockpit carpets, I bring home, soak them in the tub with Zero (soft soap) and brush them while wet, with a very soft brush. I dry them on my balcony on a sunny day. It is some work, but it does a great job.

Brian,

You may want to use the search feature for this one as I know there use to be several threads about it. Dave S had it pretty much down to a science. Speaking of Dave S....anyone heard from him? Have not seen him on the board in a while.

I use straight water from a pressure washer and they turned out great.

Thanks, Wes, I keep forgetting about the search function. I'm sure as we move towards spring commissioning the proverbial wheel will be reinvented over and over through repeat threads.....I'm off to perform my search :smt024

I dont have much square footage with my 280DA so I bring the home and soak them with water and then scrub with regular dish soap and a little bleach with a brush.

You do better than me... my carpet liners have to be washed about every 3 days (no joke) when we are using the boat....

Snap ins go home, we use a Hoover SteamVac on them. Carpet covers in the cabin go in the clothes washing machine. We use the same Hoover SteamVac for the carpets inside the cabin and for the fabrics.

Hoover SteamVac for the cabin carpets; washing machine with woolite on the runners; powerwasher on the cockpit carpets. The cockpit carpets now have 5 years on them. I'll probably put an order in with our carpet sponsor as they probably won't make it another full season.
