I just acquired a sweet 1967 Sea Ray 1967 SRV 180 I/O Cover Girl classic. It's just like the black one in the brochures and is a pretty nice one at that. It has the Mercruiser 160 six and runs great. The previous owner had the complete outdrive rebuilt and everything works great. I don't know if the stripes are factory, but they look pretty good. I'd hate to take them off as they are in absolutely perfect condition.

Is this version common? I even have the white convertible (if a little worn) top for it. Drove all the way from Michigan to Wisconsin to pick it up!

Absolutely fabulous classic, nice find - I personally would do away with the stripes, different era (Starsky & Hutch) IMHO.

Very nice boat. I would keep the stripe myself especially if it is factory.

You have yourself one very cool classic. The late '60's era models in the brochure photos really bring back memories. I remember when my old girlfriend looked just like the one lounging in the stern....

Great looking boat! You might want to ask the last owner if the stripes were original or not. Either way, cool boat.

Thanks! It's very different than mast boats you see...not too many black ones out there. Don't know if stripes are original, but they are VERY well applied and are perfect. I like the original flag though. Happily, the outdrive has all new seals, cables, bellows and universal bearings. PO just had it gone thru at no cheap cost. Getting ready to try her out soon!

Wow- nice looking classic.
Definitely a plus that the outdirive was replaced with a modern one (looks like an Alpha One?).

What is the displacement on that straight six?

Word of caution- use ONLY ethanol-free gas in that baby unless the fuel lines have been recently replaced (which isn't a bad idea if it hasn't been done). Ethanol migh cause problems with the carb as well.

Wow, that is so cool to see! Thanks for sharing the pics!:smt038

I wonder if they have classic boat shows like they do cars? There are certainly some really nice ones on here I see every week.
My wife would kill me if I started in on restoring the boats as well! She likes to turn the key and go!

Update...

The funny thing is....the top's gelcoat is REALLY nice. No problem there. The sides were painted (pretty nice job) at some point. However, the red part of the stripe is GELCOAT. The black part is the paint. I don't know, I never saw a black deck/top and red hull version of anything. I don't know how they did this. Could it have been a factory job? You would think they would be all gelcoat.

The motor is a 160hp Mercruiser Chevy 6 inline. Runs GREAT. Is it all original and never rebuilt? Dunno. PO got it at an auction and had it for a few years and did the mechanical work to it.

There was a small soft spot on the floor just in front of the engine cover. I removed a small section around it, and am patching it with a new piece with West System epoxy. So far so good. Did these boats have any floatation? from what I can see, there's no foam under the floors anywhere. It's all hollow. Hmmmmm. I guess it doesn't have the problem of catching and holding water...making the boat water logged.

Can't wait to get it out and run it uot on the Saginaw Bay!

Don't you dare remove those stripes. They make the boat.
