Chunk missing / How do I fix it?

This is the Whole set up. You replace the nut with the fancy long nut and than attached the anode ( $72) Thats why I need the extra deep Socket. JG.

John,

The prop anode may not work for you. On drives that have the prop shaft anode, the prop shaft has been drilled and tapped. The anode attaches with a bolt that is screwed into the end of the shaft.

You can add a shaft anode by either replacing the shaft with a newer one, or drilling and tapping the end of the existing shaft.

Henry..............just to clarify there is a nut made for the outer prop of the older B3 drives that allows you to attach the anode to the prop shaft. It is available at http://www.boatzincs.com/MERProp-Nut-D.html

Definitely take the drive in and get it fixed properly.
Best of luck.

Ok, As far as Painting. The entire drive has some Alumium oxide showing with more observed on the lower sections of the drive. I was looking into painting everything From reading past posts I am going for the:
Primocon Primer ( intrlux) roll on and
Interlux Trilux Prop & Drive Aerosol Spray Paint
Now do I use the same process for everything. I guess I will need top order a new decal. Thanks. John G

John,

When you paint be sure to mask over the Mercathode anode (cathode?). It is mounted on the bottom of the transom ring. If you lie on your back and look up directly under the drain plug you will see it. The business end is a platinum coated wire on the aft end. DO NOT get paint on the wire, it must be bare. If there is paint on it, you have to clean it with cotton swabs and acetone. Do not scrape the paint as it will also scrape the platinum off.
